Covetor with Mining Barge 5
vs
Hulk with Exhumer 3
I know the Hulk really shines at Exhumers 5, but until you hit Exhumers 5, is the Covetor with Barge 5 better?
All other Mining Skills are at 5

Hulk gets the mining barge 5 bonus as well. Plus 3% per level of exhumers. so considering those 2 skills alone the Hulk gets 9% more yield.

also please remember that while a covetor can fit one mining upgrade, a hulk can fit two with ease, so at exhumers 3 it's not just 9% better, it's effectively 14.45% better, just by getting into the boat.
beyond that, if you're serious enough to actually get into a hulk, you're likely serious enough to get it to Exhumers lv5 at some point, so that's 20.75% more right off the bat.

The Exhumer is better. It tanks, has a bigger hold and mines more.

Covetor now fits TWO mining upgrades with the rigs, the Hulk suddenly VERY expensive for high sec mining imho. The Hulk ALWAYS beats a Covetor, but it is a LOT more expensive:)

yeah, if only Hulks could fit rigs too, then they would be cool...
wait a minute... what are those things at the bottom of the fitting tab... "rig slots!?!"  when did this happen??? ...Revelations you say?... ...Day 1 they were?!?!...
Long story short, Covetor < Hulk in every area... clearly they are overpriced, but such is Tech 2 (still broken after all these years) but that's a discussion for another time.
The question at hand is which is better, not which is more expensive, so Hulk is unquestionably the far superrior ship, and while a Covetor is putting in rigs just to fit a second mining upgrade, a Hulk is tricking out for either big cargo capacity, or other benefits the Covetor is outpaced on.
