Ok, so let me put my 5 cents into NEW SITE issue. First I have to say that I divided judging this site into to separate parts - content and design.
First about the content, which in my opinion is the biggest advantage of relauched website - lots of information clearly stated and nicely organized. I didn't dig enough to have a fair statement about this but AFFN I am well interested in reading most of that stuff.
Second issue - design. Sorry, but it's a big minus comparing to the previous design... I am a graphic designer and I am really dissapointed about this piece - that after such great job done in-game and on previous website you didn't give more potential and efforts to show more of that, so unique, in-game experience on this website. It's EVE's business-card which should be a pill filled with everything what is the best - now it's like made in COPY GENERAL [or any othe copy center].
I am mostly dissapointed by the header and layout - which is simply ugly. Why? I have several main issues:
LOGO - I don't understand why EVE logo is stated everywhere in yellow and now "out of the blue" it is blue... - what about CI??? - I always thought EVE's graphic team and Art directors as a guru - a great example of strong knowledge about Corporate Identity - now i am really divided .
PORTRAITS - the girl on the right - there r many other much better portraits in your db [I am sure of that] to put in this Ist place - and that cross eyed look - due to the lighting - it's so basic mistake :(...
What do u think of choosing the Miss&Mister of EVE and put them here - it's not to late though to prepare such championship :)
BLUE IS EVE'rywhere - Why did u use blue colour?? What was the purpose?? Is it the second part of the teaser from the every-time game launch? If yes - the teaser is much better - the blue lighting is natural there - here everything is colorized :( - that new one has nothing from uniqueness and style of the previous design - and even the "plot" of the header was much more interesting in the previous one...
ADVANTAGES +/- - The things which i like most in new design are I think parts of the old design - I mean the headers, banners and illustrations - they have the pure atmosphere I loved from the first look on the previous site design. Now put together with the new design those 2 things simply don't match - it's so different - common, not much left from uniqueness... which for me - when it comes to graphic design, was and still is the main factor of EVE...
I can clearly see that both designs were made by different people, and this time it was unfortunately a mistake... I'd love to show someone my proposal of EVE site design but I don't think anyone would be interested  .
I didn't want to make this post a flame or anyuthing alike whining - I think I gave some clearly stated reasons for my not-so-WOW reaction to this relauch. Maybe after reading this post you will treat it as sth worth stopping for a second and maybe worth a try to look at this issue form the other client-side:D].
I love everything done by EVE creative designers team, I am deeply impressed and would love to become a part of such a team in the future but I cannot get along with such "accidents"...or better to say - bugs.

I personally like the cold as space blue style of the website. and i must say that many of the new features like the corp and item db are nice addons. Maybe manny ppl haven't read the PotW's which are announced now on the right side. I have but i must say that they now will be read more because they are visible. gGood work CCP. Maybe ppl will read them now and get more from the background story of EVE.
But one thing is so ugly that i have to say it here. In the character sheet, the topmost icons have no transparent background but have a very ugly black border which is very distubing on the upper part of the page (where the backdrop is light blue). Plz repair that
But again congratz to the new site

Eh...speaking as a dabbler/amateur designer...
I very much like the left, spacey bit of the image above - it represents Eve very well IMHO. Mr. & Miss, on the other hand, are just 'orrible, I agree. How about putting Silphy En Diabel there? 
I do like the blueness of everything, the only niggle perhaps being the icon headers with their eye-poking contrasts. Overall, the blue supports the immersiveness you get when you get lost in reading all the new stuff (well, for me at least ). Layout-wise, I like the choice of sections on the right and the random articles/stories on the right; it gives the user plenty of content, but doesn't create chaos and doesn't forcefully inundate the user with stuff (on a related note, the new Chronicle icons are superb).
I think that a faint background image or pattern would improve things significantly, rather than the present flat blue, the ugliness of which becomes particularly apparent in long threads.
My 2 cents.

As I said - many viewers so many different comments.
My thoughts are as stated above - this accidental connection of all the items put in this new design make me feel weak :( I want previous design back filled with the new content!
This blueish painting doesn't show the whole richnes of the EVE universe - the COLOURFULNESS in it's best taste. I'd call it orgasmic  but it will be censored :P
Read my post carefuly cos i don't argue with the importance of the content - I have some problems with getting used to the new "wrapping" .
One metaphore which came to my mind after thinking of this issue:
It's like eating in the most sophisticated restaurant on paper plate with plastic fork and knife - I am sure the food will taste different - surely not better...

afaik, the designs of all the eve sites is administrated and supervised and probably mostly programmed by the same crazy machine... kodus to him! :D
oh and for the blue-ish-ness, didnt you notice the splash screen on starting EVE changed a few patches back?
and you will notice the ICON for the eve executable will in the next (tech2 i guess) patch also be ... guess...

but, funny things aside... there are not many colors except black and dark grey which are more relaxing and appealing to look at than the ones that are picked now.
I would agree that the top logo is +maybe+ a few pixels to tall, but not many :)
just you wait until the last things are fixed and the features implemented.. that'll make moo's smileys go jawdrop 3 pages on a thread.. its all very very very smooth
(all things said here are 'imho' and not to be treated as 'facts')

Dagny - please read carefuly the posts - and sorry I cannot agree to compare these two designs they r whole a different, why? Details in my first post :)
I won't change my mind because of previous works of the EVe'g-team - I got used to being impressed by every new piece put in the website - previously improving, now making it worse - simply, this one is a big step backward....

Cheers, Erm, thought I was the only one with issues on the new look site.
The blue on black looks good.. sort of calming (perhaps to reduce forum flaming ;) ), but I agree about the header - its predicesor was far superior. That chick and the bloke behind her look a bit slapped together.. and oh dear god, her EYES!
Also the headers for each of the panes along the right and left hand side of the page ('scientific articals', 'download eve' etc) don't really seem to be in keeping with the eligance of the games GUI's and some of the other parts of the site.
Liking the main content header, with the two yellow arrows, that looks good.. unfortuantly the 'forum' header seems to be 'eve insider'...
The most worring and annoying niggle I have with the site is the fact that the page doesn't resize properly - the right hand pane overlaps the main part of the site at resolutions under 1024x - believe it or not people do use 800x600 and even (gasp) 640x480 .. this is just bad website design
Good re-organisation of content tho, much easier to find stuff.. :)
oh.. oh dear.. just noticed.. they couldn't have used this as an opportunity to re-instigate the forum search tool? :)

She doesn't look crosseyed to me. If you look close enough, you can see part of her eye is quite a bit brighter than the rest, and gives the appearance of crosseyedness.
As for the blue, I think I saw it mentioned up in one of those posts up there, but can't be sure anymore, it is due to the new patch thing. So far we have had yellow/orange, 'castor' will be blue. Kind of an interesting twist.
I don't dislike the new site, but I do think that it gets a little too plain once you go below the 'download eve' and the 'eve chronicles' things. Perhaps a slightly more elaborate background is needed?

I like the look of the new site, it feels cleaner and more modern to me. But that is just a laypersons opinion. At least a change every now and then feels refreshing-
lol, u r right though that the girl on the right looks cross eyed;)
it's a trick of the lighing but it is still reason enough to change it. Someone should photoshop the pic so it doesn't look so funny.

I like this site better than the last one, but i like the one before that better than this one: it was more mysterious, dark, and more in conjunction with the whole layout of EVE. I also like the old logo too.

Hmmm... about the lady in blue on the header. Its not just the lighting but look at the left side of her jaw. Its all ummm... rough. Either she forgot to shave this morning, a bad photoshop job, or she was rendered poorly.
Well anyway at first glance from me and all my friends who have walked in and seen the header today, it has stood out like the sore thumb. Seems a little unproffesional.
Well anyway the picture needs to be touched up or changed.

Now that I agree. This new shiny blue stuff aint bad, if it wasnt a sense of commercialisation and peddling to the glitzy kids. The old Eve logo was really v. nice.
