Edited by: Ryysa on 15/01/2007 12:44:32 Ok, here is my computer specs: AMD 3800+, 1gb ram, NVidia GeForce 6600 GT.
I have two monitors connected to my GeForce card, a 19" TFT through the digital connector and a 19" CRT through the analog connector, windows works fine with two desktops. The 19" TFT is set as the primary monitor.
Now there's something really weird I notice.
I run EvE in a 1152x864 window.
Activating the FPS counter in game with CTRL+F. If i have EvE on my Primary monitor (the 19" TFT) i get 60-80 fps in space, depending on circumstances. Now if I drag the EvE client to the my secondary monitor (CRT) the FPS goes down to 20-27 fps.
Is there any reason my FPS drops 3 times when i move the client?
P.S. By moving it over, I mean that I position the window in the middle of my CRT monitor, not overlapping with the TFT.

Check the graphics tab in the escape menu. If you have two monitors running you should see two different display adapters, both named NVIDIA Geforce 6600 GT (even if you only have one graphics card). The first adapter is your primary monitor, the other is the secondary monitor. If you switch the adapter to the second 6600 and move eve to the second monitor (without overlapping), you should be getting similar FPS that you got with your primary, and vise versa to have good FPS on your primary.

Edited by: Scouteye on 15/01/2007 13:15:30 Dont know why its not working right but try using EVEmon or EVE Launcher to move your client for you and get it to fill the screen. I found this helped with stuttering FPS when i moved my client from my 19inch LCD(dig) to my analog LCD, if you dont get the alinement spot on it can stutter badly.
I also had to make sure the second GPX adapter was selected from the GPX tab.

Originally by: Ryysa I wonder if this couldn't be done somehow automatically though? by EvE ?
You can get a program to do this automatically for you, such as Eve Launcher, and I'm pretty sure EveMon also lets you set a monitor for eve to automatically use.

I had a similar issue with World of Warcraft, and I found out what the cause is.
DirectX only provides full hardware optimization on one display - the primary. It isn't because of the way EVE is coded, its because of the graphics solution they chose to use :-/
No fix, sadly. Just run EVE on whatever your "primary" display is. (Do as the above poster said and switch your displays if you always want to run it on the right/second monitor)

About 2 monitors, have you noticed that EVE will practicly stop working if you run multiple accounts and have them on different color depths than the desktop? Also printscreen never works from my secondary screen.

I love you! Iv had the same problem for weeks, I originally thought it was the KVM switch that i had (as my monitor properties were not being detected), but i just tried without the KVM switch and still had the same problem. Just found this thread and now my problem is sorted.
So much thanx :) JB ------------------------

Would be nice if CCP had a version of the game for multiple monitors, many people have them.
It would allow you to show your ship and gui on one screen and allow you to have scanners, market, eve-mail, and the likes (you get the idea) on the other screen.
