Ok.. so I've finally got in the mood to do some good PVP...
I outfit a PVP caracal (yea.. i'm a missle ***** =p), nothing too expensive, ya know.. will need to replace it...
jump into low sec.. couple people there.. all in the station, bleh..
head to the 0.0 gate, nothing on this side..
I jump aaannd..........
nothing.. no one. only me in local ><
21 jumps into low sec i go, and not one gd person.. if there IS someone there, they are docked. no chat in local.. nada..
bleh.

usually 0.0 is :
1) first jump, noone
2) second, noone
3) noone
...
17) death

Going into 0.0 without a scout is like playing russian roulette.
Just make sure you check where the bullet is using a scout and you'll avoid getting unlucky ;)

Keep jumping like that till you notice you cant warp further:

It only takes on jump into 0.0 if you pick the right one. Try HED on for size.

I was in 0.0 for a corp op and lost connection, so I said I would leave there in my own time.
Decided a few days to make a move, undocked right into a firefight and got blatted!
But the lesson was learned :)

Never really understood 0.0,
I jumped in 0.0 also, seeing noone in local,
jumped some deeper,
ran into some locals there,
they were doing a lot of complex,
went by that system,
ran into 1 person at a gate,
made some Safe Spots,
they got angry in local chat,
Saying noobs are not welcome,
noobs are all alts,
everything KOS?,
more jumped in the system,
and guarded every stargate for the rest of the evening.
Wonder if this is life in 0.0
Just staring at a gate all night long waiting for some noob to jump in.
I just flew a few rounds from gate to gate seeing that after 4 hours noone jumped in or out and they were still camping the gate.
What is there to do, so I can rat some NPC and still be semi safe?
Pay rent?
Are there any friendly people in 0.0?
Are there only pirates?

1v1 fights in 0.0 are rare .. as you've discovered, most systems are either empty, or have a fleet of doom in them.

In these warp to zero days, running thru 0.0 is not that hard if you dont hit a bubble camp. Anyone can run like a scared ostrich in 0.0. But lets see you actually try to accomplish something there. I suggest you go to Pure Blind and rat a few belts in J-CIJV.

0.0 can change just like that. it can be completely quiet for hours then suddenely fill up with hostiles.
As for camping gates most new players are kos in 0.0 mainly cause a lot are used as spys. "usually a NBSI policy exists within corps and alliences (not blue shoot it) so if ya not freindly your goo.
Its how we defend our space from hostiles and people looking for easy kills. you will also find a very good communication lvl exists within 0.0 so you cant really go anywhere with out being noticed. though now and then it fails and yes i have been victim of this lol.
