Hey all
I've had a 64bit AMD chip in my PC for a while now and I'm thinking about getting myself windows XP 64, but I just thought I would check to see if anyone else is running this and if eve works fine on it?

There is no 64bit client of eve, so far from what I know?...
Wouldnt it have to be emulated in 32bit? I'd just go for running a stripped down windows 2003 32bit edition.. *cough* if you can afford it.. Yaaar pirate!

Do it. It made no diference to my eve but you will be staggered at the difference it makes to your PC in general. The only problem I had was finding an anti-virus but Avast solved that (added bonus as that it is free). Don't try and install XP 64 over normal XP though as it borks up your net connection.

Yeah, thats pretty much what I wanted to know. I'm pretty sure it was gonna make 0 difference to the game perfermance itself, I just wanted to make sure it was actually gonna run.
Thanks

Hi, I'm running an AMD AM2 4600+ and XP 64 Bit and I have had absolutely zero problems running EVE in either windowed or full screen mode.
Again AV was a problem... I run AVG without too many issues... my main problem is getting drivers for things like printers and scanners, etc. So beware on that front! If at first you dont succeed.... kick the damn thing! |

Running EvE on
Vista 64bit
No Problems at all (except there seems to be some resizing in windowed mode that make stuff look ugly)

Im running eve on my Dualcore intel cpu with XP 64bit. It runs fine, just as it did on my old computer (upgraded 2 weeks ago).

The only issue I've had so far with eve & xp 64 is the sound. If I don't mess with the settings everything works fine. If I go in there and turn down the music or turn up effects or touch any of the bars in general, all my audio just turns to loud, high pitched buzzing. I then need to remove my settings files to fix the problem.
Enabling/disabling works fine, just can't touch the sliders.

There is not a 64 bit client for Eve. And I highly doubt that there ever will be. Windows x64 emulates a 32 bit environment to provide compatibility with 32 bit software. I run it currently and have had zero problems running EVE. There is no performance impact as near as I can tell and some benchmarks show that there may actually be a performance gain, if ever so small, over 32 bit XP Pro.

Vista cometh.
Anyhow, been running EVE on XP x64 for veritable ages. Absolutely no problems.

I have Windows Vista 64-bit and notice that running multiple EVE clients at the same time is much smoother over Windows XP 64-bit. I run three clients on a dual core AMD 64-bit CPU and there is little lag noticed.
* Vista drivers for NVIDA display drivers are now RTM and work very well for me * Vista drivers for Soundblaster X-FI Fidelity (only card supported initially) are beta and work OK
Soemtimes, the display settings for resolution get screwed up, and restarting the client fixes that.
I concur with the fellow posters that Vista is the way to go.
FYI, I have a 512MB video card.
