I haven't seen any reports on connection stats, but would like to know more.
Out here in Australia (TPG/IINET) eve connections are usually quite stable, but occasionally we will get a rough patch like midnight Friday 18th December where clients will disconnect and subsequent attempts to start the launcher repeatedly fail to reach the server and you are resigned to playing something else for the night.
Even the online forums or eve-offline are unreliable during this time.
This sounds like a Denial of Service attack to me, is this true CCP ? I haven't seen any posts about such things.
If it is DOS I have an idea.
I understand that DOS attackers must focus their resources on flooding a particular port number of a particular IP address thus preventing legitimate incoming packets from being acknowledged by the server. The IP address is not changeable, but the port number is. What if a change was made to the launcher to set any port number nominated by the account holder via account management ? If you get disconnected just nominate another port number between say 30000 and 65535 and reconnect.
I fear if dropouts become a regular thing, I will have to hang up my space suit and go and fight zombies or some such...

A lot of times the dropout isnt on CCP's end, but lies somewhere in one of the hops between your local area and the TQ servers.
To check to see if TQ or the Forums really are down, please refer to http://eve-offline.net/ for up to the minute connection status!
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

It's been happening for a while now, earlier today (around DT) a whole bunch of people from all over the world (Canada, Europe and SEA, but not from the US) dropped at the same moment. So it's something fairly close to CCP itself. |

Looking at eve-offline, there was a sharp drop in player count at 10AM eve time, which I think is the dropout you are referring to.
Eve does get DOS attacks, and CCP has a team that works on mitigating them, as well as other internet issues.

Sometimes there are DDOS attacks, but a DDOS usually does not only effect one area, as they would be ddosing the login server.
Sounds like a 3rd party **** the bed to me.
To answer the original strawman, rather stable connection with few dropouts here.
Accounts may not be used for business purposes. Access to the System and playing EVE is intended for your personal entertainment, enjoyment and recreation, and not for corporate, business, commercial or income-seeking activities.-á

I've been pretty stable overall, but I've noticed that when I do get a connection drop, its usually just after an area transition. I've dropped upon docking at Dodixie, or just following the jump into the system. I've had other, more random drops in different areas but I believe all were after I'd finished a warp, jump, or a dock. |

I'd suggest trying a VPN before you call it quits. It made all the difference for my experience, and completely removed the socket closed and other disconnection errors.

actually because the us stayed up that implies its not on ccp's end.
The tubes to the servers are not very many. There is (or was) one cable under the ocean that runs from the us to Europe. (not sure if more got added) an outage anywhere near or on the route will kill the connections for any us players to TQ. the same goes for the other way as well. This implies something between you and ccp went down.
the internet is a highway, if the road between you and work has an accident and massive traffic thats not your works fault. so 9 times out of 10, disconnects are not the end servers fault

Do a tracert to eve website IP (google that line to find out what im talking tabout/how to do it)
it will list out each ping, your on Telstra Wholesale so you probs got about 15-20+ hops b4 CCP server, usually thru an asian IP, what you will notice is a larger ping/response time/packet loss.
the lag we get is usually from the Telstra International >>>> Asian hop.
it happened to me just now also, im in brisvegas, sunny coast, so telstra wholesale also.
i usually tether my mobile as it takes a slightly different path. |

When i was with IINET in Australia, disconnects every day and even regularly, 15 minutes before the hour. Called them, they tested the copper right up to my dwelling, they talked all this techy stuff. Switched to TPG, no disconnects for a year. Maybe a few in the last year. Since the last patch, .exe crashes every session, not sure if related but it's making me start to win eve.
Goggles. Making me look good. Making you look good.

The only time I get dropouts is when Tippia gets involved in an argument here in the forum. Man...if that isn't an internet killer, then nothing is.

I completely agree here. I just replaced my router and I no longer experience Eve drop outs.
