Trying to figure out a vexor setup mainly to be used for ratting. I'm also wondering if it is feasible to try a passive tank with only 3 mid slots and are drone upgrade modules worth it at all? Thanks in advance. |

It is quite doable with good skills (minimum Gallente cruiser 4 preferably 5)at least against non-missle large rats. Please don't try to shield tank this ship.
High = fit rails with optimal around 20-30k and 1 remote rep and drone link augmentor. Mid slots for cap injector, webber and a good AB
Lows would involve appropriate hardener(s)and or DCU depending on specific rats, a medium repper. Drones just use 3x Ogres (preferably Ogre II's)
You warp in about 30-50 k away. Let them come to you.. Pick off the smaller rats with the rails until they get closer (and tracking gets tougher) at which point you web them and finish them off with the drones and rails.
Make sure you have your AB engaged and are are moving to maximise transversal to the BS sized rats, which will have a reasonably difficult time tracking you. Whatever damage they are doing should be easily tankable, the cap injector is likley only needed early on when there are many shooting at you and your transversal isn't slowing the damage yet. As you will need to be running your tank full on then.

Personally I found that a passive shield tank on my vexor was significantly less skill intensive than armour tanking it, for low level missions.
Fitting a couple of large shield extenders and an afterburner, with pds's or shield power relays in low's will provide you with a tank that works just fine in level 1 and 2 agent missions, or in 3/10 DED complexes, or agents most belt rats in empire.

Edited by: Sir Howard on 18/01/2007 18:11:51 I use mine for missions and salvaging. I just let my drones kill everything while I salvage the wrecks. My highs are 1 tractor beam and 4 salvagers. Tech 2 hobs and tech 2 hammerheads in the drone bay. And unlike someone who posted before me, I think the vexor tanks just fine. (armor tank)

Vexor is quite useful for ratting, though keep in mind that in 0.0 it is a slow killer, my setup: High: 2)dual 150mm rails with AM ammo Drone link augmentor, Tractor beam, Salvager
Med: 3 named cap rechargers
Low: 1600mm crystal plate, t2 MAR, named power diagnostic system(for PG), active rat-specific hardener.
This ship has let me take out true sansha BS with 3 BS escort, just keep targets just within drone range, and outside their gun range, can tank for 10minutes before starts to get low on cap. Will swap the power diag for second active hardener when i get AWU skill up.
