I've started running missions lately and have a question:
If not required by the mission objectives, is there any point in destroying all of the various habitats, docks, warehouses, blah blah blah that you find in the missions? I have done so a few times but never found interesting loot, so I've stopped doing it given the time involved. Any pointers here?

Generally it's not worth the effort. Some structures will almost always drop something, and a couple will drop nice things like hardwires. You'll get a feel for what types of structures drop stuff (bunkers & casinos for example). If you have "Collidable Structures" turned off on your overview, sometimes a structure will still show up. In L3 Massive Attack, on the final level, there is a silo that will still show. Destroy that and it always has loot in it.
I've heard of people getting pirate tags and the like from ruined neon signs and other "junk" structures, but I've never seen it myself. The same for the big battlestations. I've heard rumors that they sometimes drop implants, but all I've ever gotten was a screen-whitening big boom from destroying them. I sometimes get into a very destructive streak and blow up every structure in a mission just for the joy of watching the explosions. Some structures are just too fargin' huge to destroy easily though, astro farms are a good example.
If you're an ammo-user, it can be a tough call whether or not to blow stuff up. As a staunch follower of the pew-pew-pew laser method, it's just a matter of whether I feel like taking the time. Sometimes on the long cruise to the next acceleration gate there's a bunch of structures in laser range that I might as well blast, so long as I don't have to alter my course.

wasn't there a web site that had a list of structures you could destroy that would drop stuff?
