I've been using Tachyon 90% of the time, only switching to Pulse for missions like Damsel.
The only mission that scared me a bit was The Mordus Headhunters. I had to drop Bastion and MJD because I couldn't track the orbiting Frigates/Cruisers and my armor dropped really fast during the MJD spin up cycle but as soon as I entered Bastion again everything was fine. Capacitor got a bit low but I refitted for extra Cap Recharges and finished everything. Next time I'll probably just clear the Battleships first.
Just a question... I noticed that people like to kill MTUs so I haven't been using them at all.
If I drop one and stay near it while I clear the pocket, can I just scoop it before it dies if someone starts attacking it? People like me can come (and will) shoot it. That is why you shouldn't be more than 10km from your MTU if you deploy one. With the right setup, I can take one in about a minute. If you check my zkillboard, you will see that I have like 9-10 MTU kills. When I run L4s, I don't use a MTU. It is like a beacon to everyone like me to come find you.
Interesting, so MTU's can be used as bait huh. And I do have Curses and Pilgrims just lying around collecting dust. |

Damage Control II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifier II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Large Armor Repairer II
Large Micro Jump Drive Omnidirectional Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Script Omnidirectional Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Script Omnidirectional Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Script Sensor Booster II, Targeting Range Script
Drone Link Augmentor II Drone Link Augmentor II Drone Link Augmentor II Drone Link Augmentor II Medium Solace Scoped Remote Armor Repairer Dual Light Pulse Laser I
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Workable fit but you might be better swapping out some of the CCC rigs for nano pumps and/or nano accelrator rigs.
You can also dump the Laser and just pack a flight of warriors for close stuff. Not every slot needs something in it. |

Most of the ones that come in to shoot sit still for some reason. That is why I had a long point on my mission ship for a while until I quit using MTUs.
Just something about me...

A lot of time guys will come in with a warp core stabbed ship, shoot the MTU to get a limited engagement and then immediately re-ship with something like a Bhaalgorn. So you have to be prepared to kill and pod the ship initially or GTFO and wait the 5-minute timer out.

Well, they don't get the limited engagement until you fire back. Until then, they are just suspect. So if you have a friend near by in Navy Malus, have him come in and point the a-hole while you kill him. Even with a warp stab, odds are he ain't going nowhere. |

I just shoot them, let them warp off to re-ship - then dock and wait the timer out. I figure if they're going to waste my time, I'm only too happy to return the favour.

If you are going to do full clear in Amarr space then Paladin with T2 pulse and scorch is the best possible choice. As to how to avoid a shiny loss i strongly recommend overtaking to start with. As you learn the capabilities of the ship you can up the dps and lower the tank. You will also need to take into account how stable your internet connection is as this is a particular concern when it comes to marauders and will dictate if you go burst tanking or cap stable-ish. once you are comfortable with the ship and with bastion, look into a polarized fit with a cheap pith x-l booster and boost amps. It's a straight up 25% dps increase. last suggestion would be to fit hyperspasial velocity rigs. Trust me, totally worth it. For blitzing/serious isk making check my Sig.
This polarized Paladin sounds very interesting, would you mind sharing the fit? |

It sounded very interesting to me at first as well....until you actually try using that fit in a mission. Trust me, you don't want to do that to a Paladin. |

I would go with the pulse paladin used it a lot, very few cons, bastion mode saved me a few times when I fudged the triggers. |

I Just started to play around with the polarised Paladin on the test server before I left for holiday, I want to put the fit through the grinder so to speak so I can say how it performs in practice.
