I don't have PE skill but with a ME20 CCC bpo I actaully got zero waste for builidng a rig. The bpo info is like: charred micro circuit you: 100 perfect: 80 which I thought should be correct as I don't have PE skill hence there should be 20% material waste. However, when I started manufacturing the rig I actaully used 80 cmc which is the perfect number. So is it an intended result or a bug?

Just to clarify: You had 100 but after the rig finished you still had 20 left over?
Also I'm somewhat amazed you attempted to build a rig with 0 PE skill. It wasn't cheaper to sell the rig components then buy a rig?

Yup I checked the number of materials. I had exactly 20 left not 0 which I thought. And I'm buidling rigs for my own need at first cuz they were so expensive you know.

Take the blueprint and try and put it in the manufacturing queue and see what it quotes you for materials. (You don't need to actually HAVE the materials, it'll still tell you what you need.)
Does it say 100 or 80? _____ Lifewire is a big, ugly, mean... carebear. |

Ok i'm now building a CCC rig atm. Materials required of this bpo: Burned Logic Circuit: you - 94, perfect - 75 Melted Capacitor Console: you - 25, perfect - 20 Tripped Power Circuit: you - 82, perfect - 65
I have 141 Burned Logic Circuit, 53 Melted Capacitor Console and 410 Tripped Power Circuit. After building this rig, I got 66, 33 and 345 left.
And on "Accept Quote" pannel, the materials needed is 75, 20, 65 and waste is 0%.

how strange, and it doesn't do this with other BPOs?

OK, next question:
What level is your jury rigging skill, and what is your energy grid rigging skill at?
Maybe there's a hidden bonus. _____ Lifewire is a big, ugly, mean... carebear. |

The result is the same for a salvaging rig bpo.

Edited by: Toran Melchira on 18/01/2007 16:55:52 Rig construction follows the same formulas as constructing other modules, but the component requirements are so low you can get to zero waste just with Blueprint ME. I have PE 5 and get to zero waste with ME 8 or so.

My impression is also that the Production Efficency skill has no effect on building rigs.
For example, looking at a the BP there is a 'you' cost and a 'perfect' cost; with PE 4 (which I have at the moment), the 'you' cost is 5% greater than the 'perfect' cost. Building things that use minerals uses up the 'you' cost in minerals. Building rigs uses up the 'perfect' cost in salvage materials.
Researching the rig BP does seem to improve it, however, so this bug doest seem to be affecting ME.

My testing today, 1/18 after DT, shows that the quote takes PE into account, cost is shown as You. Manufacture takes PE into account, cost at accept is You, cost at completion is You.
Stealth fix in today's DT, or bunch of mixed reports from the start?

Actually I had noticed that it quotes wrong from the start. It seems to use less than it should all the way around, and about a 8 ME is enough to get perfect (about 5 ME with perfect PE.) I wasn't about to complain though. ;) ---------
