1.5b. Why do so many auctions have a starting bid lower than the reserve? If you're not accepting less than the reserve, just start the bidding at the reserve. It will waste less time.

The minimum bid is the minimum amount that will be considered in the event that the reserve is not met, but does not guarantee a sale. The reserve is the point where the item will definitely sell.
