I have been reading about the threads about potential neural remap gift (know CCP is rethinking this right now), and that has got me thinking about how the existing mechanics work, and I am now confused.
My char has 2 remaps available (have had them for quite some time now), as per the attributes section of my char sheet.
So a couple questions:
1. I am unsure when I last remapped, and my skill history does not track back far enough to give me any clues.
How do I figure out when I last did a remap?
2. Does CCP "give" us a free remap every 12 months? I am not talking about any gifts, but basic mechanics.
If I did not do a remap for 12 months, would after 12 months and 1 day would I see 3 remaps available instead of the two I have today? |

You don't bank up remaps, if you never use them, oh well. You get 2 as a new character and then ccp gave people +1 previously as some bonus irrespective of time left, so myself I had 45 days cooldown left and I got it shaved off, people who had a remap ready, got +1.
Confused? yes CCP is.

1. If you have one, your last used doesn't matter.
2. You get a new one 12 months after you use your last availiable remap.
If you have 2, this will give you a third. |

1. You don't. It's not necessary to know the date of your last remap when you still have more to use. They will only tell you the date of your last remap when you have no more remaps to use, because that's when the 12-month timer begins.
2. Mechanics normally give another remap 12 months after the last remap is used up. If you do not use the last remap, then you will not get another one. However, CCP gave us a remap as a Christmas present last year. It was controversial because of the way it ended up being done.

You get one new remap every time you spend 12 sequential months with 0 remaps available. It's a very fine distinction. |

no you don't
12x30days after you have remapped you can remap again,
if you have never used a remap , and ccp give out remaps then you get +1 to your count

12x30 days after you have used your *LAST* remaining remap, you can remap again.
If you have never used a remap, your count will only change when you get bonus maps allocated (probably 4 or 5 max currently). |
