Edited by: Tiras Mar on 18/01/2007 18:34:47 I'm always a bit concerned when someone plans to turn a good book series into a visual medium, seems a lot of the time it doesn't turn out well. Though there are notable exceptions. If HBO does decide to go through and actually produce this though I'm rather exited and I'd have to agree that HBO is a good choice for the tone of the books. Anyone heard anything else or have thoughts on it?

back on topic, hmmm it'll be difficult because the material is very dark and a lot will have to be censored, but if it works it'll be good.

It's going to be tough to put something which includes references to hookers, rape, etc in every third line or so into public television.
Anyway, those are really awesome books. I don't see how they can be successfully ported to TV though, way too thick plots and too many characters. Sigs are for noobs. |

HBO isn't public television. And, Rome or The Sopranos can't be much worse. Honestly, if its done as well as Band of Brothers was... it'll be great. --- --- --- ---

Interesting. Keep in mind though, optioning is a long, long, long way from a greenlight.
Edit: Get your vocabulary straight, HBO has bought the rights, not optioned them.
I'm more keen on this though:
Quote: Weiss recently adapted the William Gibson novel "Pattern Recognition" for WB and director Peter Weir.
Didn't know that. Peter Weir? Hell yeah.
