Has this ever been discussed before? Probably. If you have 2 or more monitors, having 'space' on one monitor, and all your windows (overview, cargo, market, etc) on the other.
Would have been a nice addition to the upgraded client later this year.

Yeah, it's been discussed and wished for a long while. I'm with ya man, I would kill for dual monitor support.
Nothing is coming from it though, so we can only keep wishing.

I haven't heard any such thing, but if that's true, someone speak up with instructions how.
Because it's surely not a grapics option in-game. --

can run 3 monitors with something, I forget what the device is called. People use it with MS flight sim etc. ~~~~~~~~~ Caldari. It's so easy a Minmatar could do it. |

I have not used them at all, but I'm pretty sure that's what the previous poster was referring to.
-- Edited-- Confirmed that EVE is a supported game. WOW those screenshots look hot EVE Triple Head Screenshots

Its called Wideview
http://www.wideview.it/wideview.htm
But you need a computer per monitor I believe. I agree I wish CCP would address this.

I wouldn't mind having (for the sake of frapsing movies) a situation where you could have dual monitors or windows, one with the full hud/UI on it for ease of camera commands, and controlling modules/anything UI orientated, and the other being a complete mirror of this, only without the UI being displayed (the screen from which you would fraps).

If you look in the Eve display options, they don't support dual monitors or else the resolutions would be 1280x2048, 1024x1536, etc... You can expand the entire game across two monitors but you get that gap in the middle which most of us don't like for games. What I believe the original poster was asking for was the game running on two monitors with all of the action taking place on one monitor and windows and menus on another. A good example of a game that supports this is Horizons. They have a resizable rendered window with the menus and GUI outside of the render.

you can do it and it's pretty sweet, but the ship is in the middle so you need nicely fitted screens
or else use window mode and "push" the window a bit
but overall, windowed mode sucks, especially in dual screen... for me, 30fps in windowed vs 130 in fullscreen (2560x1024) ------

it is possible - it's all to do with driver support and stuff if I remember. There is a picture floating around somewhere of a guy with an apoc stretched accross two screens... RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!

The ship and the UI gets cut in half, otherwise its awesome. A triple-monitor setup would be even better, of course :D

Once apon a time there was in-game correct support for multi-monitor output, not stretched but actual code to display the game across the monitors, however CCP removed it about 1.5-2 years ago. I can't remember why I've slept since then...

Get the Matrox Triple Head. A friend of mine has it, Eve stretches across 3 monitors, and with windows resized and placed right, you are running in full screen, with all your information on either right/left or both outside monitors, with the middle one completely free of windows. It looks sweeeeeet!
It makes for an expensive setup, the "triple head" box that controls it runs about the same price as a 19" or 22" LCD. But it looks like it is worth it. I'm probably doing it next week to my system, I'll let you know how it works out!

Just edit the INI file, it'll accept them.
I have 2 monitors. Eve on one, other apps on the other. Works better :P

i do that too, but i cant use fullscreen on one screen
well i can, but whenever i click other screen, eve minimizes
so i got to use "fake fullscreen" with a window that has entire size of the monitor, but the fps drop is huge compared to fullscreen =/
any trick for that? ------

EVE running on 2 monitors: clicky!
Has to be in windowed mode, using something like EVE-Mon to make it fake fullscreen. And yeah, framerate is sucky

Edited by: Splagada on 21/01/2007 11:31:08 i go from 30 (much lower in big fights) to 130 fps by simply hit "fullscreen" on one monitor...
then it's all fine as long as i dont click other screen(eve minimizes ) ------

Edited by: DOGNOSH on 21/01/2007 11:37:56 you don't need a computer per monitor just a fast enough processor plus fast Gcard
the screen is 3840X1024 you field of view is properly widened by about 40%,the rest of it is stretched but not too noticable so you can have all your windows either side and leave the main screen free to see where you're going here is photo of my setup
here is screenshot, notice station slightly stretched but windows are not ! -------------------------

p.s. when I got my matrox TripleHead2Go it could not do 3840X1024 with an ATI card, only Nvidia my setup is not a very fast PC so it should not be too expensive 3.0Gig pentium(PRE Dual core) 2 Nvidia 7800GTX in SLI Fast ballistix RAM -------------------------

Doesn't anyone read the OP anymore? That's what I started the thread about! I don't want Eve stretched over 2 or 3 screens. I want my view on one, and my overview, chat, and any other windows on the other......
