Hi CCP
I am an adult. I own two creditcards. I am allowed to vote. I am allowed to make children. I can take huge bankloans. I read newspapers about the violence in the world. I can, if I choose, watch violent movies with bad language and explicit violence. I can differ between good and bad. Fiction and non-fiction.
Can you please make an option to remove the profanity filter?
(I know the word change is not permanent)
A few ascii chars aligned in a matter so that they form a word with profound meaning do not hurt or offend me to any degree at all. What offends me is someone forcing their views of morality upon me and choosing and censoring my life.

The simple fact is that some people find swearing offensive. Do you swear loudly in the supermarket checkout and in the shopping centres?
There is a time and place, and a public forum isn't the right place. (And yes, I do swear).
Get a dictionary and challenge yourself to find ways to express yourself without using profanities.

agreed... should be optional... im old enough to vote and go to war and kill a fellow human, but i cant read swear words... bit silly!!
but then again in the uk, u can go to war and kill people at 16, but u cant buy **** or drink till ur 18... i think thats dumb too!

I swear all the time anywhere I choose, it's not my problem people can't get a freaking grip.
An as in eve your not even actually saying the word anyways. IT is after all, only a game. Who the fuk cares.

*****... Know what I spelled? A word that has very few negative connotations (and rather weak ones at that) and quite a few harmless ones that I can think of...Thats the problem with the filter.

I use my own filter. It's between my ears, it's called a brain.
I quickly scan forum messages and look for certain key words and phrases. If the message contains them I usually skip it and move on. There is no sense in reading a message full of insulting or offensive language, there will be no intelligent content and it's a waste of time to read or reply to. So, scan it quick then decide if you want to read it or move on. Problem solved.

wow, i only put P O R N and it gave me the stars!!! the filter is worse than i thought!!! surly anyone who has a new connection has seen way more than needed anyways, why bother blocking the word ..weird

Swearing and trolling should not be allowed on the public boards or public ingame channels as such behavior can have a negative impact on the community.
Future subscribers, investors or developers to the game may visit the web site and forums and that wouldn't make a very good impression if the first thread they see is entitled "**** YOU, <insert name>!" or "I GOT PODDED BY A BUNCH OF ******* *******!".
You have to understand this game is played by different types of people with their own indiviual likes, dislikes and tolerances.
What may offend one may not offend another and vice versa. Although you might be comfortable with freedom of explitive language, others may take offence.
If you wanna swear, open a convo with a corpmate who feels the same, and unleashes your swear words until you both feel satisfied or the server crashes under the load of your profanity.

Yeah agreed. Its funny to think about, but if i only knew the worst word possible world wide, and i only knew that one bad word. i would each time i see a **** think of that word. so basicly a small litle sweare word like **** could for me look like it was the worst possible word *****
go figure for anyone even able to understand this when the words are made with **** or was it ?

Please get a clue and actually read what was posted. It was not asked that CCP not filter for everyone, it was that everyone gets and options. Male Bovine Excrement pretty much covers my opinion of someone protecting me from bad words.

Anyone can swear and given the chance most people would. **** *** *** ******* *******! See, anyone can swear, it doen't take a genius or any sort of thought process.
Why should CCP waste time and resources implementing a pointless feature just so you can view profanity and get your kicks off someone being called a ********?
I would prefer the time being spent on proper things like TECH 2 & 3. Wouldn't you, eh?
I suggest someelse gets a clue.

If they wanted such a stupid and pointless feature they would have put it in with the site revamp.
Have you not noticed there is less filtered swear words now? This is because people are realising it is pointless if they can't used the swear word so are using other non profane words to express the same feelings.
Come on, it's not hard. |

They already took the trouble of implementing the filter.
And actually. The original text is there. The words are not replaced in the database. Or so I assume, because if you reply to an original post with swearwords in it. You end up seeing it without filter. So there shouldn't be any problem at all.
And if someone is supposed to get a clue its probably you. Do you really believe that the person working on the website is the same person doing T2 and T3 stuff?
Thanks to Bad Harlequin for saving me time having to reply to some of the posting with the obvious error that I was for swearing. I am not.
The filter is good for those that are strict religious. We other know that there exist bad words. We know that some people use them. We accept their inferior way of communication without it hurts our eyes.
I just want to be given the option of not having a parent stuffi a pillow in my face everytime something bad is displayed

Not all Eve players are adults and not all adults find it necessary to use profanity when they are trying to express themselves nor do they enjoy it when others do.
There are a lot of forums out there that permit posters to use whatever sort of language they please and, frankly, the overuse of profanity on boards like that gets rather trite after a while.
The profanity filter here will stay. The ability to use swear words doesn't make anyone's posts more intriguing and removing it would serve no purpose.
