Ah, yes, your problem...
How old is your computer, and how much free space do you have on your harddrive? Does your computer meat the minimum requirments for the game?

Try installing Net. Framework, and see if that helps.

Try to reinstall WinXP -> something could have gone wrong at the first install.
Check all hardware components on correctly installed and working drivers -> something could have gone wrong here as well.
Download EVE again and reinstall it -> something could have gone wrong at the download.

Also get a friend to download it and burn it to CD for you... or just re-install from the original Eve-CD...
I've just re-formated my PC thanks to some random crashes, but with vista appearing soon I'll be doing the re-format again - oh joy :D One of the devs for the new Future Falcon Suite of Eve Tools, visit us here

Run Windows update. The latest Windows Installer may help the problem.

Try reformatting again? Redownloading installer? Beyond that, I dunno what it could be.
And we all told you you'd come back -----

whaaaaaaaaa???????
gf allows mmo play??????????
are you sure 'she' is a female?
anywhooo.....if you have a means, test your ram, you may have a bad stick.
second, run chkdsk on all you hard-drives (do a full chkdsk, have it repair and isolate bad sectors)
I assume you have all the latest updates and known stable drivers.
Good l;uck, hate to hear of a sick pc.

try to install again and if it freezes:
Right click my computer > Manage > event viewer Tab > System
look for errors and warnings and see if any appear at about the time that you try to install.

Weirchas, could it be that the installer hast enough room to extract the files to start the installation?
Like you downloaded it on C: but you want it installed on D:? If yes, the installer is extracting into C:, maybe thats the problem.

click start -> click run -> type cmd -> hit enter -> type chkdsk c: /f -> hit y (for yes) -> type exit -> restart your computer via Windows shutdown menu.
if that doesn't fix your problem i had used a trick before to remove my windows installer files because they had gotten corrupted. they auto re-install themselves after you try to install something new after that. You'll have to google it if you want to attempt that
Lastly, have you tried running the installer and just walking away from the computer (leaving it frozen) for like a half hour? I've found on some computers that "freezing" is just a hard working cpu that will eventually pass its stone :)

I'd say your gf cunningly allowed you to play EVE and then ****** with your pc so it won't run it. Then you owe her a favour for being allowed to play EVE but you still can't play because the game doesn't work.
Girls are clever like that when it comes to devious scheming. -----

I apologise, i mis-read what the actual issue was and just assumed it was problems with STARTING eve, not INSTALLING.
Next time, i promise to read the enitre post 3 times before jumping to conclusions. ___________________________ ~Jiekon

do a full deep scan on your harddrive with some sort of checking utility.
Some parts of HDD might be screwed...
Other than that, let someone make a clean install of EvE, then zip/rar it and send you a copy.
I could probably do it, but I doubt if I am allowed to post a 3rd party location to an EvE client, considering the fact that if I was a really evil person, I could infect the said archive with viruses etc.

How much free space is there on your drive after the installation of Windows XP and the download of EVE? Since you're running only a 20 gig HD you're cutting it close to begin with. Like the gent mentioned above - you probably have no space to extract the files.
