Only if your wardecced your POS would be in any danger.
Altho currently not cause CONCORD still helps you ..
but thats gonna change.. (they say)
Besides that .. only disadvantages:
Like:
Not being able to moon harvast (0.3 and lower only)
Not being able to construct capital ships (need system sovereingty)
Not being able to use POS Refineries (0.4 and lower)
etc
Me being a pessimist is a win-win situation:

You've got your own space to research bpos, that's probably the biggest advantage.

Also, a speed boost on invention jobs if you ever get a interface. 6 hours instead of 10 hours in empire stations for each invention attempt. From the "What is invention" in the kb.
ò Empire station in 0.5+ - multiplier: 2.5 (10 hours) - 200.000 ISK
ò Empire station in 0.4 and lower - multiplier: 2.0 (8 hours) - 150.000 ISK
ò POS in 0.5+ - multiplier: 1.5 (6 hours)- 120.000 ISK
ò POS in 0.4 or lower - multiplier: 1.0 (4 hours) - 90.000 ISK
ò non-Caldari Outpost - multiplier: 0.75 (3 hours) - 75.000 ISK
ò Caldari Outpost - multiplier: 0.5 (2 hours) - 50.000 ISK

with the right setup you can make your pos near indestroyable (in 0.5 and higher) because there are no capital ships

For the time being yes, but supposedly thats gonna change back to no protection.
Although if your paying a ton of money to keep it going *because you can't do have of what a low sec station can do* I think that having concord protecting you is required, it is high sec after all. lol
|

only if the player fires first, if the POS is set to fire on war targets and it (the POS) fires first CONCORD does not interfere.

I had some fun testing it out last night :)
Had a second char in an account of mine .. which was not in the same corp.
Went to my POS and took at potshot at it.
Cruise Missile launchers fired at it .. they had only 1 try cause CONCORD showed up to finish me off :).
Too bad i forgot my noob char was in a 6 mill cruiser and no insurance. DOHH!!
1 Thing im not sure at .. if it also counts if the attacker was at war with your corp.

Back to the main question: Faster production !
With an efficient equipment assembly array you have a time multiplier of 0.8 - that means you produce 20% faster. Let¦s say you have a valuable BPO which gives you a profit of 100 mio per week. With the efficient assembly you will get an extra profit of 20 mio per week because you can produce 20% more a week. Makes 1 billion extra profit per year. The array costs 450 mio so you have a net profit of 550 mio in the first year.
Same for rapid equipment assembly array (time multiplier of 0.65 but material multiplier of 1.2). With the proper BPO this array can also produce a lot of extra profit. Of course good BPO¦s with high demand and good profit is necessary. It¦s a good profitable usage for POS¦s when you have good Tech 2 BPOs.
But must be calculated in each case as a medium POS + fuel for a year costs already about 1 billion per year. So the costs may eat your extra profit.
