is it possible te return the last known location when a player is offline? this is already in the game so why not add it to crest? (corp -> members -> location)
As long as it would retain the "logged off" information i dont mind.

I have a probably dumb question regarding the Character location thing that you all are talking about. I am a complete noob when it comes to crest, api, and all of that other stuff :(
My question is this; can someone other than I, that I have not given access to, look up my location? I am worried about this being used like a locator agent but out of game and with more speed and accuracy.
I assume this is meant to be used on programs like EveMon and other things that the user authorizes themselves, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks! |

If you use any programs that you use crest it will ask for permission from you for that application to view the scope. In order for it to ask for this permission / scope also you need to login via the sso. You can also manage all the applications that have access to your data in crest. |

Just found a (probably caching related) bug in the location ressource:
Jumping back into the system you just came from causes CREST to not update your location for several minutes.
Reproduction: -login character in System A (Vlillirier) pull location, CREST returns System A within 10 seconds. -jump into system B (Alsavoinon), pull location, CREST gives me System B within 10 seconds. -now I jump BACK into System A but CREST continues to give me SYSTEM B for >5 minutes.
If I then jump to System C (Oicx) CREST updates to System A while jumping and then to System C.
(not sure under which category I should bug report this on Sisi) |

Any chance you can check the headers? We should return the cache status of the requests. I wont have time to fix this before it ships but hopefully can track it down and fix it as soon as possible.
Huge thank you for testing this and responding here with this information. This is a huge help!

After jumping from 6-CZ49 to Reblier and back to 6CZ49:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: nginx/1.2.0 Content-Type: application/vnd.ccp.eve.CharacterLocation-v1+json; charset=utf-8 Connection: keep-alive Vary: Accept-Encoding Date: Sun, 10 Jan 2016 10:28:58 GMT Cache-Control: private, max-age=10 Access-Control: allow <*> Access-Control-Max-Age: 1728000 Access-Control-Expose-Header: CONTENT-TYPE Access-Control-Allow-Headers: AUTHORIZATION, X-REQUESTED-WITH, CONTENT-TYPE, ACCEPT Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * Content-Length: 143 Access-Control-Allow-Methods: GET, PUT, POST, DELETE, HEAD, OPTIONS Content-Language: en-US Vary: Accept-Language X-Cache-Status: EXPIRED {"solarSystem": {"id_str": "30005328", "href": "https://api-sisi.testeveonline.com/solarsystems/30005328/", "id": 30005328, "name": "Reblier"}}
The X-Cache-Status continues to change from HIT to BYPASS to EXPIRED and then again to HIT but the returned system doesn't change to 6-CZ49 as it should.
Some of my characters on Sisi are stuck... maybe it has something to do with that?
EDIT: now it seems to be stuck at BYPASS |

Would it be possible in a later update to get something like the fleet name if the character is in a fleet? We currently use the igb to track shares during my corps mining ops and atm we cannot see a easy way to track this when the igb is removed. The location will definitely help with us moving tocrest and plans have been done for a version using crest but we would need to have more data exposed through crest to reliable be able to track through it.

Is fleet information included in the IGB headers?

I am hoping to get a CREST resource out later that lets fleet bosses basically see the fleet composition window via CREST.

As for location endpoint, are You planning to fill it with remaining information current headers provide? Like shipname / ship type / ship id for example?
HTTP_EVE_SHIPID - This header will contain the users ship id HTTP_EVE_SHIPNAME - This header will contain the users ship name HTTP_EVE_SHIPTYPEID - This header will contain the users ship type id HTTP_EVE_SHIPTYPENAME - This header will contain the users ship type nam HTTP_EVE_STATIONID- This header will contain the unique identifier number assigned to the station at which the userGÇÖs character is presently located. If the character is in space, or otherwise not in a station, this header will not be present. *Note* This header does not appear to be used. HTTP_EVE_STATIONNAME- This header will contain the name of the station in which the end userGÇÖs character is presently located. If the character is in space, or otherwise not at a station, this header will be set to "None".
the rest of headers is not important or obtainable differently with info already provided (like corp, system name, constelation name, alliance, etc)

Yes yes gib ship type id. name is worthless as I have a copy of the db and it's silly to store the name for anything separately. station id I've never used, doesn't seem very useful. ship id also isn't that useful.
But for siggy I need ship type ID to avoid mapping .....podding........which is good way to unintentionally make a hilarious mess and find out where everyones clone is on the map otherwise. |

As already stated in the other post about the IGB, this would be amazing on a secondary screen (e.g., smartphone/tablet).
Think about it like this: I need to see my fleet composition, so I'm gonna grab my phone, open up the EvE FC App, and there you go: 10 Scimitars 15 Basilisks 75 Shield Lokis 10 Hugins 5 Lachesis 1 Drake
No need to use dscan + copy paste and go to a website, no need to alt-tab. |

And that thing could even update WHILE you fight, so you don't need to check the fleet channel to see how many lokis / basis / whatever you have lost or ask how many you have left!

It doesn't but using the igb we can send a one time use link into fleet chat so only people from that fleet can get the link (theoretically). I am just requesting the fleet name so a link wouldn't need to be used and I could just scan through registered people of app and check if they are in fleet and then do more checks for ship type and location and then add a share point to their name. It's just the best way I can think of atm to get away from using the igb

You can do the same thing with an external browser link.

Not really as each person would have to log in and out on every alt. Using the igb we get the name and ship when the link is clicked

CCP FoxFour wrote:I am hoping to get a CREST resource out later that lets fleet bosses basically see the fleet composition window via CREST. A bit of a hail mary, but random unsolicited annoying feature request -- could the last X entries in the fleet log also be part of this information? Specifically, I'm looking for the loot log. (When a fleet member loots something, the act is visible in a log over the entire fleet.)
My eventual goal here is to create a situation where we can write an application to track mining fleets. A fleet boss would expose his fleet to a CREST-backed application, and then the application tracks who mines what, and calculates a raw ISK payout to be distributed by the boss (potentially shared amongst haulers and boosters, etc.) To do this, I'd also need for the action of mining to be printed in the loot log, which isn't happening currently. That being said, I'm guessing that such an addition to the fleet log isn't something you, specifically, do for the codebase (just based on your previous devlogs and what they generally involve,) so I suspect I'll have to suggest that later at a more appropriate time.
I am not sure how the fleet's loot log is handled, internally -- if it's written to a persistent storage mechanism or if it's just an ephemeral broadcast. Hence, hail mary.

Don't want to annoy you but this is also not working correctly on TQ.
I can't switch our mapping tool to CREST while this problem persists because it completely messes up chain mapping. Jumping A->B->C->B->A will most of the time return A->B->C->A which then causes the mapper to assume that there is a wormhole connection between A and C. Sometimes it will also just stay stuck at C until I relog the character.
Sometimes it works correctly - but most of the time it doesn't. |

Probably best to move this conversation over tot he dev blog thread. See my post here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6274873#post6274873
I am totally aware that this resource is pretty much useless in this state and I am working on fixing it but something else has come up that I need to finish first before I can get back to this.
