manay many many people, me included have a dual core system and play eve with absoulutely no problems whatsoever and the dual core ctd bug your talking about was to do with amd dual cores and was fixed several patches ago. now q4 and oblivion are extremely graphics intensive games whereas eve is a very cpu intensive game are you by any chance overclocking your 'monster'pc, you can have many unexplained problems from overclocking any part of your machine. also run memtest overnight and orthos the next night if you can run both of these OVERNIGHT without getting an error then aye its eve thats fecked.

Have you tried setting eve's affinity to one processor core only? that is the fix for just about every eve player using dual core cpu's that is having the same crash problems you are. oh and try updating your sound drivers for good measure. There is some directx bugs from microsoft affecting crashing as well. worked on a few friend's comps.

When you use a 32bit client with a 64bit cpu, the cpu will only use 1 core, so there's no need to change the settings.
The only real issue that could be causing this is a driver, so best bit of advice will be to go and update your graphics card driver, your sound and whatever else you can think of!
Hope that helps

And the obligatory "turn off sound" in Eve.

Actually, the devs said the dual-core bug is only reduced with that patch as it's apparently a DirectX bug rather than an Eve bug.

Turn off your sound, or get a soundcard and stop using your onboard Realtek sound'card'. That's what's causing the problem - not your processor.
Oh, and just a FYI, Windows attempt touse both cores on a 64bit processor, doesn't matter if you're running 32bit code or not. ---

You can also try changing windows to use the power management timer in the event the dual cores is causing a race condition.
I did this with my WinXP and *every* dual core issue I had for every game (this one, EQ2, WoW and Civ4 were my biggest offenders) cleared up completely.
For a complete run down of what I am talking about, here is an excellent write up: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=983781

I had the CTD issue until I set up a dual boot with one of the options turning off the second CPU. Cleaned things up completely.
Other things I tried that didn't work: Latest AMD's dual core optimizer Latest drivers (video, graphics, chipset, networking...) Latest BIOS Turning sound off Turning SLI off Manually setting EVE's processor affinity And previously I loaded the WindowsXP patch for power management with dual cores
Interesting issue, I hope they fix it at some point.
Linkage explaining how to set up the dual boot via boot.ini.

It's not the dual core, and it's not the sound, check the other threads on this issue. Many of us are getting crashes, both to desktop and entire system lockup (like me).
