Give missiles a targetting range display like guns and tractor beams and pretty much everything else OTHER than missiles have. The guns and ECM targetting ranges are adjusted for skills, so I dont see why missiles cant have the same display.
Right now the only way to find out is to show info, select modules and then do the math manually.
Is it that difficult to give missiles the same feature as everything else with a range in the game?

poroblem with it is that missile range is not definite.
they have to accelerate jsut like any normal object and when they follow a target then sometimes have to turn. This screws with its range and can cause problems for people who don't fully understand it.

True, but this is simply the same as guns. You are not guarenteed a hit in your targetting ring. I think all that missile users want is a quick way to determine maximum range. That is simple enough.

Errmm.. I think this worked hovering the mouse over the ml equipped with the missiles if you had the strategic view on but lately i try and it doesnt work.. so.. signed? :)

I'd guess the limitation is due difference between guns/ECM and the missiles -- the range of guns/ECM is decided by the attributes of module itself, while this attribute is missing from the launcher and the range of missile is determined by attributes of charge loaded in that module (very different from 'dumb' turret ammo that technically doesn't even exist, it's just bunch of multipliers applied to the gun and ship stats)
It'd be nice to have it fixed but it'd require to teach the client that not all modules are to be treated the same, and that for certain modules it has to look up the loaded ammo data to calculate the range etc... generally a bit tricky o.O;

It's not too terribly hard to look up your range from your ship info screen, but I agree that it would be great to have a bubble on the tactical overlay that shows max range.

This would be nice to see.
I'd settle for a "loaded ammo" tab or attribute in my fitted launcher's info that gave me current data on my fitted missiles so I don't have to calculate all the multipliers myself.
Not that it's hard, just suggesting something in line with current features on weapons and modules. --- Should CCP enact toll gates? Discuss it here! |
