Edited by: xHalcyonx on 21/01/2007 17:03:35 I can't decide which way I want to go. I finish my learnings on Thursday and I want to be able to make a decent amount of ISK in missions and still have a viable PvP ship.
I plan to get HACs to 5.
Now, I can't decide if I want to get to drake and some decent missile and shield skills run lvl 3 and 4 missions and get Cerberus with T2 HMLs for PvE/PvP, or get a drake with Arby HMLs for PvE then promptly train for t2 projectiles and use a Hurricane and Vagabond for PvP.
Or should I just begin speccing in Matar on Thursday?
Or just use a Arby raven with C5-L xl booster and tII hardeners for missions and the spec Matar?

It doesn't take long to get into decent NPCing raven, so i would personally train for Siege Raven to rat/mission with, then spec up in the minmater skills. If you're going through the minnie t2 ships you'll need decent shield skills anyway (vagabond, sleipnir, jaguar). I've never bothered training for Caldari as i've found my minnie ships kill NPCs fine. I fly a Maelstrom w/8 1200 Arties and rarely need to activate the booster, so it's up to you. BTW, HAC 5 takes a long time for a skill which isn't the most useful out there, why not train BC 5 instead and get the oh-so-sexy command ships.

Is there a reason to go with Mataari ships? If you have some kind of preference for them, then sure, why not. Each race's ships have their weaknesses, and there is a lot of ships to chose from. But if you don't, then i would recommend Caldari for pvp. While they may not be the best close range killers out there (even if they can be flown that way), and they may not be the cheapest ships in the world, I find caldari ships to have a large selection (favorates being Crow, Harpy, Cerberus,Raven and the Rokh for serious fleet work) and a lot of versitility as a race. If it is versitility you seek according to ships rather then race - the Gallente are the most flexible, then the Matar.
Quite frankly, I see no reason to train them - unless you get satisfaction from winning with inferior ships. . .which is a common e-peen thing in these parts.

If by PvP you're referring to group work then there is very little difference between caldari and minmater, caldari possibly even having the advantage. However, it is widely accepted that caldari suck at solo work (with the exception of a few good ships) since tackling compromises their tank. Minmatar are better solo. Caldari are better at Pve. They are equal in gangs. That's my take on it and i'm sure there are many people who disagree because their "leet caldari ships wtfpwn solo and no one can beat them," and because, "minmatar suck, give us a boost *whine whine*."

Caldari ships are very forgiving to n00bs, and if used correctly can be as deadly as any other race.
Id go for Caldari, because if you go Minmatar, it is ALOT of training, you need Shield, Armour, Projectiles, Missles, Speed skills all maxed to be good in pvp. Versatility is not always a good thing unless you have it all well trained.
Always Outnumbered. Never Outgunned.

Assuming you want to fly every single ship. If you aim for a specified one the training path is much more narrow. A vaga, for example, needs projectiles, (small) drones and speed, which isn't really more as you need to invest for other HACs.

Edited by: xHalcyonx on 22/01/2007 00:57:47 What should I fit for lvl 4 missions on a Raven? Cruise or Torps?
This setup is for before Cruise Spec, to fit T2 cruise laanchers I would have to fit a co-proc 1 and sacrifice a BCUII (Might have 2 DGBCUs by then though).
My main mission rats would be Dread Guristas.

put on the PDU II, then ran out of CPU (WU 4 AWU 0 Electronis 5), and I dont want to fit a co-proc. after Raven is Cerb and taht is when AWU goes to 4. would multiple -3% Missile Launcher CPU Usage hardwirings do it?

If your aim in this game is mostly PvE based, go caldari.
If you want to solo/small gang effectively in pvp, go minmatar.
It's not all that simple ofcourse, both races have exceptions etc on different ships, but if you are into PvE heavily, deffo go for caldari, no one can beat them at that.

First thing: Guristas do Kinetic/Therm, so I think you might be confused with Angels.
Second Thing: I'd like to know how you manage to find missions in which your main enemy is DREAD Guristas.

I've had a long day...I'm very tired right now. Anyways, I can fit another Heavy nos if I fit 3x Powergrid Subroutine Maximizer I rigs and a -3% cpu launcher hardwire. I will ahve 1.03 CPU left O_o.
I might just use a Gist A-type XL. So much hassle with T2. How much does a Gist A-type XL go for? 300mil isk or so?
