For some reason the Japanese kids think it endearing (or so animators believe, at least) when a character ends their sentences with a set phrase. For instance, every once in a while you'll see a bear-like character in an anime show ending their sentences with "kuma" which means "bear" in Japanese. I'm not sure what the deal with "poko" is but it seems to be related to some sound that racoon dogs supposedly make in Japanese folklore legends by beating on their inflated stomachs, or something to that effect. |
