I think the issue in WA is greatest in the indigenous community, so there is also another complicating factor.
It's not an easy issue all around.

If I was joking, I'd say becase WA is a redneck State and lesbians aren't allowed, which makes them angry; but I hope MrEd doesn't read that (just a very poor taste joke in any case).
It's a really difficult issue and the website could be improved, even if the government's approach isn't actually wrong, because there are services for males, but they are often provided through the charity services.
In any case, we are so far off topic, I'm suspect we might receive a visit from the ISD.

Yeah thank goodness. Pretty disgusting line of trolling you've decided to take, Nitshe. Separate your issue = Custody for single fathers (which I support and live), with what was discussed about domestic violence. |

Of course that it could be improved. That's some Minority Report **** right there. "You feel like you might perform a criminal offense by beating up someone? Call yourself in now! What's that? Your wife hit you? We're not interested." |

Actually the issues are very closely related which is why I chose to link the #21fathers page to highlight how wrong your statement about resource priorities was.
Gender bias pervades every part of our family law and domestic violence plays a big role in that. For example some stats recently tabled before parliament showed that a staggering 84% of domestic violence claims by women in Queensland's family courts were found to be without merit. Because of our society and legal system's bias against men DV is often able to be used in family law as an "I win" button by women. All part of where those #21fathers come from, Mr Nitshe.
In any event DV is a real problem that effects all family members and adults of either gender. Including an enormous amount of male victims. #endallDV.

There's definitely nowhere near enough funding for services to support men, especially the genuine (most) fathers that want to continue in the life of their children after a separation.
False accusations and denial of access are just as serious a case od domestic violance (even after a separation) as any sort of physical violence and there's always the assumption that the mother is right and the father wrong.
We have such a long way to go.

My reference was to the current domestic violence campaign, not your issue. Please feel free to PM me on your issue of custody, I used your resources and simular networks in Qld to win custody of my son. |

Nitshe Razvedka wrote:My reference was to the current domestic violence campaign, not your issue. Same issue really. Not to diminish the current campaign's merits (any campaign against DV of any kind is great) but once again we see the same old bias and complete lack of appreciation for the fact women aren't the only victims.
I only bothered posting because like Ria all I saw in the link posted was a complete lack of support for male victims and an automatic assumption that all perpetrators are men. Scip saw it a little differently, a unique approach at reaching out to potential perpetrators. I don't quite agree, but Scip's always been more level headed than me anyway.

Mine did also.
I've spoken to Scip about my issue because he's GÖÑ, and my corpmates are very familiar with my RL goings-on. But beyond that I don't really share personal stuff with strangers online. But thanks for the offer anyway, and all the best for you and your son's future.
I'll gtfo now so people can return to CODE bashing etc.
