It's been a great time but I'm leaving game for a while. I've been considering this for a few months as my play time dwindled to nothing. And no, I'm not bellyaching because I just lost a ship. I think the last ship I lost, worth mentioning, was in October? Don't even remember.
I'll possibly be back when it takes less to buy a new ship. I think if there's an overwhelmingly dominant reason I am leaving game it's because it takes weeks worth of npcing to build a ship worth flying, only to lose it in a few hours pvping and pvping is really the only fun in the game to me. I'd rather go to the dentist for some no anaesthetic dentistry than npc with all my free time for a couple of weeks to buy a T2 fitted BS. I just can't do it LOL. I log in and start and log back out to do something more gratifying.
17m for a 425 II pretty much sums it up. The icing is the 70m + rigs lol. I play games to have fun, not because I need a second job. When your alliance needs you in large ships instead of an Enyo or other small reasonably priced ship, and you lose a couple of them, the game just sort of loses something, and it's called fun. The end game is simply a never ending isk grind and that's not really much fun.
Downtime happens while I am at work so complexes are out of reach since the good ones only spawn once per day. For me, it's belt ratting in 0.0 or nothing.
Other than that the game rocks. I love the playerbase and the whole strategy/sociopolitical aspect, and especially the explosions of my fellow players as I shoot them. The graphics, gameplay, and everything else are awesome.
This whole T2 monopoly thing combined with fc's that sometimes need everyone that can fly them in BS's simply ruins the game for me.
I'll be back with both of my characters if the economy becomes reasonable.
Till then, best wishes, fly safe, and good fight! It's been a great 2 years or so and I'll be keeping tabs. I've helped put up POS's, an outpost and participated in battles with over 200 players fighting each other in the same system. No other game has that kind of scale. I'll miss that portion of the game which is actually fun and the rush of pvp.

The irony of "...I'm not bellyaching because I just lost a ship." merely just one paragraph before "I'll possibly be back when it takes less to buy a new ship." was rather entertaining - thanks!

Sounds like a clear case of breaking with the #1 rule of EVE: Don't fly what you can't afford to replace. That doesn't just mean you have the funds saved up to replace it, but also the infrastructure to recover said funds and reserves without much pain. In this case you clearly lacked the infrastructure to replace the ships you preferred to fly because you had to buy them at an inflated price (which as you should remember isn't decided on by CCP, but by the players who can make the ship) and didn't have the carebearing support in your corp/alliance to make that ship more affordable.
There is pretty decent thread (although there is by now some static in it by the hard core pirates, the carebear zealots and the PvP definition nitpickers) about the focus on PvP in thisgame, that mentions that carebearing and PvP combat are inseparable in thisgame. ASCN had to employ a significant military to protect it's core industry while BoB admitted to having a significant industrial section to keep it's fighters supplied with ships and stuff. A good alliance simply must strike a balance between combat and carebearing in order to have the best chance of surviving and thriving. If your alliance is lacking in either, you'll find ships rapidly becoming unaffordable which would in my opinion be the first sign telling you you might not be in the right alliance for your needs.

Edited by: DeckardIRL on 24/01/2007 11:04:29 Dont fly what you cant afford to lose. It is that simple. If you are ratting in the right area then you should be getting good named 425's to use and not buy T2's. Totally crazy to be in ships that well fitted for 0.0 Ops. A Mega is 2 days ratting. You should be get plenty of N-Type Hardeners in your loot... you are putting yourself out the game not the other way around. You think that if you have the best of everything you will not die. Thats your mistake. Re-evaluate your pvp ship strategy. Then it doesnt matter if you lose a big ship... we just bought BS BPOs for the corp... replacement becomes even cheaper now for corp members and all fitted out with good named loot are still powerful ships... not the "best" or most powerful but they fulfill a need...

That being said not everyone can be hunting in Fountain, there should be constellation pockets of hybrid using pirates elsewhere in game too, having them all divided up by the kind of loot they drop in the current fashion is for a lack of better wording lame.

LOL. To leave alliance means to leave corp. And if I leave corp I leave my gaming clan, which I play other games with. It's in da rulez "Thou shalt not become a member of any other gaming clan or you will get kicked". These guys are my friends and one poorly managed game economy isn't worth turning my back on them.
I've been with them since I started gaming online and they mean more to me than just this game.
