I was getting constant disconnects and the C++ error since about the 13th November. Unistalled and reinstalled the game - no C++ error messages now, but still losing connection after a few mins.

Edited by: Hugh Ruka on 24/11/2007 20:39:42 Having the same problem. Took logserver log, pingplot, dxdiag, opened bug report.
Now the bug report stated: Fixed in Kali 3.
WTF ??? I want to play NOW !!! I am paying for the game while I cannot play !!!
I even removed all EVE related files from the computer, reinstalled a fresh client. Logged in. After doing NOTHING for 2-3 minutes client crashed.
ATM I am downloading the latest Singularity build to have at least something to do ...

Hi guys, I am getting the same runtime error. Also i lost a raven yesterday as i warped into a mission and locked and started firing and i could hear missiles firing but couldnt see them fire, couldnt reload, or warp out or do anything then all of a sudden it seemed to catch up and missiles quantities went down and so did shields armor and structure on raven and ended in a pod. This has only started happening the last few days. just thought i would let you know. At least it looks like im not the only one with this problem

Got response to bugreport:
//The Runtime error happens because of the disconnect - it¦s not the cause of the disconnect. The devs are looking into the problem
Seems there is a serverside problem ? I'll wait and see what the DEVs figure out.

I had the samw problem and then I made a change to my network adapter (NIC)in Network properties. By default XP is set on Half Duplpex comm. In the advanced properties I adjusted it to Full Duplex and since then I have had no error issues. I ran the game for 6 hours last night with no problems as opposed to getting dropped every 5 minutes. I run XP, and when you do change this setting make sure you reset the router afterwards if you have one. The router will auto detect your transmission format so it won't change unless you reset it. Also if you are running multiple machines make sure you change to Full Duplex in all of them. Try it at your own risk ofcourse and if it works someone drop a line to CCP.

If that`s what the devs think causes the problem I am 99.99% sure they are wrong.
I play EVE on two computers, one of them - my older one - gets the C++ error, while my newer one does not. When both are online with the same connection on the same router only the older one crashes with the error, the other one stays fine, no error or disconnect. The old comp also crashes with the error if the newer comp is not online. To me it seems clear that the actual connection has absolutly nothing to do with the problem.
I also get a host not found error for the ingame news on my older comp, the new one connects fine. Again - this is using the identical connection, often even at the same time.

Pretty much the same problem here, cannot log into EvE and have not been able to log in for a few weeks now, all i get is server status 'Unknown'. I have tried all the so called fix's on the forums and none of them work. All this is since the last patch.

Something I am sure some of you are failing to mention is that you run a media player in the background. For example, winamp. And I KNOW you are listening to your music.
I seem to have spotted a few things that will easily trigger a BSoD and the results are repeatable as well.
Soundcard: First-gen Audigy
First, load up 2 instances of eve with sound. Wait 5 minutes. If you have not crashed by now, sitting in station, you will within the next minute or two. Load up winamp. If you have a playlist of over 1000 songs, start at the top of your list, hit play, then keep advancing thru the list with the next button after letting the song play for a second or two. You will find very quickly a nasty lockup may occur.
A single instance with sound does not cause this problem. Thanks for fixing it that guys, please keep up the good work.
This leads me to believe that: 1: Eve may have a problem dealing with allocation of sound channels. This includes the use, release, and reinit of a sound channel for the purpose of playing a sound. 2: Multiple eve clients may be attempting to grab the same sound channel for the purpose of playing a sound, thereby causing said conflict and crash. Usually a Bluescreen of death with a "Bad_Pool_Caller" error pointing to the soundsystem drivers.
Reducing the acceleration levels will help. Possibly up to a point, will have to check that out, but it will negatively affect other games that do use full acceleration features such as eax.
I Propose that CCP puts a selectable limit on the number of sound channels available to eve as this sort of restriction on simultaneous sounds might force eve to better manage its resources.
Just as a general idea, here is where I am coming from. Said Audigy card has 64 audio channels available. You are running a 7.1 piece audio system. This, in the driver's mind is 8 channels of audio it must process. With just one instance of winamp, you can chew off 8 of those 64 channels. Thats 56 channels. Eve by default on startup will look for 16-24 available audio channels. How do i know this? because my onboard sound only has 32 channels available to it. with winamp running, eve freaks and pops up a message stating there are insufficient sound channels available. Back to the story. so each instance of eve chews 16, two instances, thats 32 channels nuked just sitting in station. 56-32=24 channels. Fast forward winamp a few songs and boom, you're out of sound channels in an instant.

Still getting disconnected every 2 mins. I was gonna sub to this game but forget about that now. No ******* answer from CCP about doing anything to fix this problem. Doesn't matter how good a game is if you can't stay connected to the damn servers. Another customer gone but I suspect CCP don't give a **** anyway.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with "Acquiring Bulk Data", immediately followed by a server disconnection? Thus far, it's made me unable to login to EVE at ALL, which is annoying, since I'm paying for the time. I'm beginning to think that Trinity needed a lot more testing before it was released. Lots of people are likely going to stop playing until Trinity stabilises.

I can no longer log into EVE. When I launch the .exe, the loading screen with the Cormorants comes up, then it disappears and nothing happens. The log in screen never occurs.
Everything worked fine yesterday with the new patch, but today it's shot.

My client doesn't crash, however it doesn't manage to get past the "Entering game as <character name> progress bar. It remains stuck for about 15 minutes and then goes back to the character selection screen. Very strange. I've successfully logged in after the patch once, just once (this morning), but when i tried a couple of hours ago, it no longer works. Hopefully a reinstall will automagically solve the problem; I have my doubts...
Maybe it has to do with the "Voice account" it set up for me without asking if I want one at all. I don't even have a mic here. I wouldn't be too surprised if it just hangs trying to find a sound input device. Is this a possible cause for the problem?

I'm having the same issue. I got in fine this morning and as the day wore on (my day off from work) I started to experience more and more lag. Now I can't get past the character selection screen as it hangs while trying to enter the game.

I've been getting crashes and OS reboots since 11/8 (at least, those are the first of the crash logs in the cache folder). Reinstalling the client helps for maybe an hour, then it starts back up again. Just 20m ago, I reinstalled again and deleted the cache folder from Application Data\CCP... got into the game, station environment came up.. reboot. Sometimes it happens before it gets to the login screen, sometimes I can play for a while before it happens. Lost like 10-15M in drones since I've been dropping in missions. I was hoping Trinity would provide some respite, but no. I've swapped out system memory with other modules, at a suggestion. No change.

Well that is 6 hours of my life I shall never get back :(
Man this thing has totaly burned me, I like a challenge but this is silly. I looked in the task manager and what happens for me is that the eve.exe starts with the EveFiles.exe and the splash screen apears but then about 5 seconds later the splash screen dies along with the eve.exe leaving the EveFiles.eve sitting in my task manager doing nothing.

My client will hang and lock my system to the point i have to reset key, I have audio off and it mostly hangs while in full screen instead of windowed mode, The client was doing this before Trinity update but is happening more often now.
