Hello,
I've always wanted to start a Research POS Business, however, I will never get the standings to run one in high sec space.
If I provided collateral for the BPOs, would people still use me for ME/PE research? Or is it nearly impossible for this to work?

Its been done. Collateral will be required though, which will increase the ISK required for your operation vastly. It'll take a great deal of ISK to handle collateral for BC/BS BPOs.

I have the standings to run POS's in 0.7 space, but I'd need to start my own solo corp. But with alliance wars, there's no way I'm starting that.
Low sec towers are also prone to capital ship r@pe-age. Which I am sort of guilty of...

A well-armed POS in 0.7 space is pretty much safe on its own, even in times of war. Without the threat of dreads, it would take an extremely well prepared attack to take it down.
That's my understanding anyway.

It'll take more BSes than any alliance can muster, since its been stated that CONCORD is defending all towers, regardless of wars. If you want to get going with an empire based research service, check out this thread. I offer lab access that lets you make a small profit without needing to purchase, set up, or refuel a tower. You can focus all of your efforts on getting research customers.
