Just a quick question really, a few people around 'bouts recommended EVEMon as a character planning tool, went to go check it out but its asking me for login details... now, before I actually enter my log in details, is this normal? I ain't too keen on giving a program which insists on having internet access and .net frameworks installed my login details... sounds fishy.
I got the link to the tool from one of the links posted by one of the mods here, so I guess its probobly ok, I just want to double check though.
Thanks in advance, Fye.

Edited by: Mongo Smith on 25/01/2007 01:32:23 Your right to be cautious.
As long as you downloaded the program from the official site: http://evemon.battleclinic.com/
You are safe with this program, it needs your login details to pull your character information from your account.
*EDIT* Alternatively you can use EvEMon in offline mode, you can manually export your character information from the My Character page and import the xml file into EvEMon

EVEmon is an open source program and has been approved over and over again.
What it does is log into the EVE forums and fetch your character data.
You can also, of course, fetch it manually, rather than give it your username and password.

Ok thanks for the info, its the official client that I got at that site you linked there that I have - so ill let it take the info.
Just wanted to make sure, I don't wanna look like an idiot emailing support saying I practically intentionally gave my login details away and I want them back :P

I am going to reiterate what Mongo and DS have said, EVEMon downloaded from the official site is a safe program to use and is not a Trojan. The EVEMon devs have been working closely with some of the CCP devs to ensure the tool is useful, does not cause server load and, most of all, safe.

Heck, seeing Kieron giving "his blessing", I'll go download and use it right now! Stories. |
