With all the clutter in the belts and roidstrippers leaving cans all over the place i think it's time for a new deployable(Ore Hopper) this item would be deployable for at most an hour. then it's shields start to go and pops. but it's secure to keep the ore thieves out. this would help with all the cans in space that the CCP computers have to keep track of and should help a great deal with empire lag.
the ore hopper should be about 10,000M3 in capacity not be inexpensive and require anchoring of at least 3 it should also be 'non tractorable' that would slow the macro pilots down and require a real hauler to bookmark it and fly manual to it |

any thoughts at all on this?
because imho it makes absolutely no sense at all that you can pop out a jet can and just mine. where does that can come from? Do you remove a few bulkheads from your ship and have the crew build it?
also, cans that last forever also make no sense, why wouldn't rats pop them for fun? i would :-) in fact I think that the clutter of cans all over the belts is a distraction and also wastes CPU at the cluster. |

I heard it explained that static, stationary objects like cans and abandoned ships aren't much of a drain on the server.
Jetcans are Planck field generators. They're bigger inside than outside, and your ship carries them in a compresses state, such that they take almost no space at all in their packaged state. Once they're deployed, they are assembled and can be used normall, but when there's nothing in the the field destabilizes and it implodes as space returns to its normal shape.
In short, jetcans are fine. I agree that secure cans are dumb and should be done away with somehow (Please let us unanchor them with Hacking!) but jetcans are great. Jetcan mining's neither too easy nor too safe. Don't screw with it.
