Edited by: Dodona on 25/01/2007 07:37:39 I know this is a long way off, but I was looking through the Jovian ships today, which made me curious about how the Jove will be implemented.
As I have read, not everyone is for making them a player race. They serve well as a mystery, something to look forward to and explore and discover. They are supposed to be knowledgeable and worldly, and they are able to use superior technology. I agree that throwing new, human players into the Jovian race would be a mistake.
Still, it would be such a shame if all this back story and spectacular ships were to go to waste, unexperienced.
So, we know that the Jove have advanced genetic technology. Couple this with the current races' already-discovered ability to transfer knowledge and experience to different clones through jump clones, and we have a wonderful opportunity; allow highly experienced players to transfer their entire being into a Jovian host. Perhaps give them bonus attributes, access to Jovian space or an innate ability to learn Jovian technology. I see this as a solution that would please both the Jovian race (as it only depends on knowledge, not wealth) and the general fan base. Not to mention it would keep subscribers around for longer, which isn't a bad thing either.
The in-game reasoning behind this isn't difficult; the Jovians have given up trying to fix their genetic disease. Instead, to preserve their race, they are opening their consciouses as hosts for more emotionally stable beings. Of course, only the clients that meet strict criteria and follow the Jovian ideals are allowed to participate. The client would be allowed to choose which host to inhabit, gaining whichever attributes they decide to enhance.
How would this balance with new players in general? That's a good question, and I don't have much of an answer. Older players are supposed to be stronger, more powerful; It's the most important reason the majority of players play. Someone will have to be producing Jovian ships, however, and I can imagine it would be a lucrative business. I'm sure a multitude of issues need to be sorted out before the Jove will ever be seen enmasse, but that doesn't make it any less fun to think about.

CCP is wasting a marvellous piece of story there.
I bet there wouldnt be nothing as great as suddenly, without notice.. some occasional jovian ships sightings, acting weird.. or maybe even approaching someone and scan their ship then engage in warp and dissapear.
To suddenly have certain missions offered related to them and to find out whats going on.
Everything without being announced or told by CCP... a great mistery!
... oh sigh...![Crying or Very sad](/images/icon_cry.gif)

I have heard of the Jove and read that they are located in the far edges in the EVE universe, i have heard that they have destroyed the stargates leading into Jove space in order to keep people out. What i don't understand is who are they are they human players of some sort or are they NPC's from the fact that you can't shoose that race i gues NPC's i have not seen any Jove ship designs. Anyone to explaijn me the whole thing would be great and if someone can gicve me links to texts and Jove ship designs.
