How are these ships fitted? I get the I-Stab/Nano spped thing, but surely they cannot take a hit without Armor reppers or Shield extenders.

Don't fly nano BS myself but this is a basic setup that ive seen.
nanophoon
4x cruise/torpedo 3x heavy nos ( think you need RCU for 4 )
Gistii X-type MWD 24km Scram Xlarge Shield booster ( or large II ) Electrochemical large cap injector with 800
3x Local Hull Istabs 4x Local Hull nanos or 4x domination nano
Gun BS can't track you and you out run missiles so even with your signature radius you will be hit for like 5 damage.

The thing about speed-tanking is you don't take a hit - you're moving too fast for that.

4x siege launchers (II, torps to taste) 4x heavy nos (diminishing)
1x mwd (gist x) 1x scram (shadow serpentis or better) 1x large injector (electrochemical +800 charges) 1x personal preferance (tracking disruptor or painter is common)
1x rcu II 1x bcu (II) 5x nano/istab (on quickfit it looks like 4 nano, 1 istab is best combo, domination and local hull respectively)
3x propellant injection vent (2x II, 1x I)
Drones to taste
Speed hardwires (snakes if possible)
Fits, and works.

Like I said I don't fly them my self so you might need an RCU or something.
IF you used a large shield booster II it might fit.

a) It's called speed tanking. b) I've met the guy who made the nanophoon famous, and yes, it does go 8.5km/s, he has a Gistii type 100mn MWD, Local Hull Istabs, domination nanos, and snake implants.

I run...
4x Siege 4x Heavy Nos (might drop a nos for a Recon Probe Launcher) 1x Gist B-Type 100mn MWD 1x 20km scram (might get a T2) 1x Heavy Cap Booster II 1x Sensor Booster/Tracking Disruptor/Sensor Dampener/Target Painter...depends on who you're with 3x Local Hull Istabs 3x Local Hull Nanofibres 1x RCU II (can drop this if I drop the heavy nos)
3x Propellant Injection Rigs and a 3% MWD speed implant nets you 1183% increase on the MWD and about 5.5km/s.
Reason I run 3x Istab/Nano is because of the extra agility conferred by the extra istabs, yeah you can go faster with more nanofibers, but I feel that the ship responds much quicker and better with the full istabs, and agility is useful if you want to change directions quickly to avoid that guy with the web that might be coming at you. ---

its not a bug, its been in the game for ages, and give me 1 damn good reason why it shouldn't be allowed, you see an enemy that you don't know how to counter effectivly and right away people start to scream BUG, EXPLOIT, FIRE, HELL, DOOM!!!
stop whining and adapt, find a way to take them out and be done with it.
and its NOT a hoax, I recently got killed by one. they nos you dead in the water while they take you out. besides going that fast requires quite a big pocketbook... at least half a billion for expensive fitting, ship and implants. the 8km/s versions are super expensive and have a lot of named and rare modules. people see this and freak out. but its surely possible. Minmatar finally have a good setup that doesn't involve sniping at long range...

The only way to beat these I-WIN setups is with a 10-15 man gang. 2 of these were in my corps home station last night and we couldn't do anything about them... BS are too slow and couldn't hit them.. we even had a carrier out but its fighters couldn't hit them. nanoed up frigs/cruisers/intys to tackle them was useless because thier heavy nos drained thier cap in a few seconds then their torps pretty much insta popped them. We even had a Huginin(sp?) that could web from 40km... but these ships have so much mass they could get out of range (even triple webbed) and warp off Long before they ever got to 1/2 speed.
THe only way to counter this... is to use another nano battleship to tackle them... Which in itself says how overpowered it is.
How many .. lets say faction equipped apoc... Fit 500mill worth of armor tanking stuff and slave implants... Can hold off a 10man gang forever with nearly zero chance of dieing unless another ship that is simmierly equipped attacks it?
I don't mind intys going 8, 10 heck.. even 20 km/sec They are small fast ships DESIGNED to outmanuever thier prey/preditors. But, int'ys DO NOT HAVE HEAVY NOS, NOR THE ATTACK POWER OF SIEGE LAUNCHERS AND HEAVY DRONES.

My nanophoon can kill anything 1 vs 1 except raven and domi (cant kill it but it cant kill me either). The key word is 1 vs 1. While its tough to pin one down you can chase it off quite easily with a fast tackler. With a tracking disruptor there is no turret ship that can kill me while i orbit him at 23-25km at 3000 km/s +, and no drones can hurt me, I outrun mediums and above and small doesnt do much damage. I fly with no tank what-so-ever so if i get into armor I have to go dock and get repaired. I fought a rohk yesterday and once his cap was gone he went down fast. A tackler warped in when he was at about 60% armor but i finished him off quickly and got away, but i went into about 95% armor. This is my setup (from memory).
High: 4 arbalest cruise launchers, 3 heavy diminishing nos mids: named mwd, tech II heavy cap injector, best named tracking disruptor, domi warp disruptor. (if i am not solo i will have a target painter instead of warp disruptor). Lows: 3 local intertial stabs 4 local nano's

the modules are not broken, they are working as intended. HOWEVER, the combination of their intended effects is causing folks to cry.
quit whining and take it like a man you whiners :P
to be honest, the second these setups loose speed, then you're dead - i tried a crude setup on the test server, and frankly they're not that tough once you break their tank, just like an armour tank or a shield tank.
the trick is to intercept them and web them - they orbit to attack, as such, you can predict roughly where they're gonna be send an inty there with some webbers, and slow them down. at worst, they change directions, and loose speed briefly, allowing a persuing vessel to web and scram. ========================================== Iy |

Long range inties are also speed tanks per definition. Same problem, stacking of speed mods. It seems more acceptable in their case though, since they can't tank any other way, and make a lot less impact against bigger ships.
Not sure what you mean by standoff ships, but any ship that doesn't use nano/istab/mwd/mwdrigs/speed hardwires combo to avoid fire, you can tackle and kill once it's committed to the fight.
I don't mind being pwned by nano/istab ships. But I do mind the fact that, just like old wcs setups which were nerfed for the very same reason, no matter how hard the nano ship commits to the fight, it always has a good chance of escaping when things start to go wrong.
How about making all webbers 90%, but named/t2 versions apply their slowdown effect faster? Then you still have to actually web the nano ship to catch it, but once you're in range and activate the mod, there's a greater chance you'll actually have a shot at killing him, instead of him just cruising out of range again on his own inertia. That's just an idea though, the above paragraphs are the real point: Speed tanking is too low risk for the benefit it provides.
