Earlier today a corpmate of mine was hauling ore to/from Duripant when low and behold here comes some noob [Darkvipa] in a Minmitar frigate and what does he do but target an unarmed Indy and then he just sits there well within range of the gate sentry turrets in a 0.9 system. My corpmate hops on local chat and he asks Darkvipa if he was gonna fire at him or what ? Along the way my corpmate's ship was set to autotarget back so this may have caused Darkvipa some concerns because... after a few seconds Darkvipa must have fired on my corpmate's ship cuz the gate turrets opened up on Darkvipa's ship and after 2 blasts Darkvipa was in his pod and his ship was gonners.
What a laugh we had at Darkvipa's expense ! lol
Later my corpmate went back to loot whatever Darkvipa dropped off his destroyed ship and all he got was an M12 launcher and some heavy missiles which had he managed to open up on an Indy would not have done very much damage due to the small cap battery and medium shield booster - I have tested this on Chaos and it takes a lot of heavy missiles to kill an Indy.
Sometimes the best weapon is NO weapon at all ! - hehe

Kind of stupid to be attacking other players in 0.9 space

No it is fun attacking players in 0.9 and manage to stay ahead of CCP. Getting stalked by 20 CCP BS and survive is the new jackass game in Eve
Or is that more Sanchez style --

People seem to think NPC ships are piloted by the devs or something.

well, I would say that doing that sort of thing in a frigate would be a noob thing, but imagine if 4 BS's open up on you at the gate? Well, this happened to me on Saturday 12/6/03. The Kirosi Group formed-up against me after I podded Zena Rocks for stealing cans at a spawn. They caught up to me in Naka and attacked me at the gate. Well, I just put my large sheild booster to good use, sat back and watched as two of their pretty Megathrons were ripped to shreds by the sentrys.
And you would think that a BS pilot would know the laws of Concord.
Hats of to your stupidity Kirosi!

To be honest since the Indy hadn't taken any damage the Indy pilot didn't think he could take any actions against the noob... it may have been a coincidence that the noob got blasted 'round the same time the original target-lock-on was noted by the Indy... 'twas fun to watch anyway... - lol

As far as I can tell, podding someone is considered a crime even if they fire on you first.

no this is not true, the pod is considered a new ship by concorde and would have to attack you for you to retaliate without repercussion, since a pod cannot attack you would be floating in a pod next to your would-be assailant much to his glee and your shagrin.
