I've been trying to find something that's very good for mexallon mineral compression. I haven't been having much luck other then the following ratios.
(quoted from a very good thread on the subject)
Mineral compression
If you're planning to build things in 0.0, you'll need to compress your minerals to something easily movable.
- Passive targets are 5m3 and reprocess for 125m3 of tritanium (1/25 ratio)
- Small Tractor Beams are 10m3 and reprocess for 100k Tritanium, 25k Pyerite, 9k Mexallon, 2,5k isogen, 350 Nocxium, 20 Zydrine, 40 Megacyte (1/136 ratio)
- Jump Portal Generators are 1 000m3 and reprocess for 31,937M Tritanium, 7,500M Pyerite, 2,924M Mexallon, 459,84k Isogen, 144,5k Nocxium, 23k Zydrine, 10,26k Megacyte (1/429 ratio)
A single Jump Portal Generator is enough to build 4 Megathron once reprocessed if you add a few zydrine, but you'll need a high ME BPO.

As it's pretty apparent I cannot afford a jump portal generator blueprint, and even if I could it's almost 2 weeks per point of ME. I'd rather not wait 40 weeks till the thing is researched correctly.
Does anyone have any lower items that would serve a similar purpose?

Depending on what you need to move, I would use one of the following:
Remote Sensor Dampener I
Small Tractor Beam I
Micro Aux Power Core I
Wives ? Girlfriends ? what are they , they fit in a high-slot or something ?
Your wallet = ISK
Wives/girlfriends = raven with 8 nos that only works on your wallet.

If you want to compress mexallon specifically, the 1600 steel plate tech 1 is also a good candidate since it does compress trit, pyerite and mexallon evenly.

Quutar posted an amazingly useful spreadsheet on this, which I can't find. The XL laser crystals appear to be best for mexallon only, especially Infrared XL. (990 units of mex + some high ends in 1m3). If you want all the low ends steel plates and tractor beams work well. There should be plenty of researched tractor beam BPOs around in the buy or sell orders forums.

Mineral compression means making the minerals into something that is actually smaller than the sum of its parts for easy haulage? Excuse the noob  .
