First and foremost - I skimmed through the 38 + pages of drivel on the SP sticky, most of which was all about buying SP, which I am very much against. And EVE is suppose to be a game with consequences - so I know I will get hate over this.
The basic thought is this - provide a one time use reallocation of a characters SP. Why? Back when I joined EVE online, I had no clue what I was doing so I skilled for many different aspects with my first toon. When I created my second character I had a better idea of what I wanted to focus on and was able to tailor my skill plan around that.
Now as time progresses, I like many before and after me developed our toons to be good in a limited number of functions. Over the that same time, CCP has made changes that effect what we had in planning.
What I would like to request, after the capital ship and citadel release, is that players are given a single use SP reallocation option. Seeing as EVE is a game built on the harsh reality that your choice today means something tomorrow is one of the things I love about it. Yet, it is heart breaking for me and maybe others, that when something we spent time and money to skill for gets a total change. Not simple little tweaks, but a total change. I feel that a single time option won't break the game. People will probably go and put points into what they are currently doing and enjoy vs the current spaghetti set they have now. I don't think people cleaning up their skills will be that harsh in the short or long term of New Eden.
The consequences that a player faces should come from their actions and the actions of those around them, not from a total rework on the means of their way of life.

So...I assume you haven't paid the slightest bit of attention to the SP injector things they're adding soon?
Suck out 500k of your SP and sell it on the market or whatever? Isn't that god enough for you? |

Oh dear, this isn't going to end well.
I think the part where you say you love the game because your choices have consequences and back it up w/ the broken heart because CCP changed the game and messed up your plans is where folks are going to come down on you. I'll start!!
"The consequences that a player faces should come from their actions and the actions of those around them, not from a total rework on the means of their way of life. "
CCP changed the game based on your actions and the actions of those around you. For example tracking titans changed some things. Power projection got a bit silly - some things changed. New ships were added to the game. The 'total rework on the means of YOUR way of life' is a direct result of how WE played the game.
TL/DR: you actually don't like that your choices have consequences |

First: I do love my choices.
Second you don't understand me it seems. Changes to things like force projection - Okay those are good and based off the choices players made. Some people like them. some people don't. Changes to tracking on a ship or other "minor" balance things is one thing. Every game has those those balance tweaks that some people hate, some people love.
What I am trying to say: When you have people, who trained up for capital ships and have lived through all the changes and balances that have happened to; which have not been that major, as in a total rework of the ship from the ground up on what it's purpose and role is in the game.
Carriers and Supers - lose the logi aspects - become long range combat support ships. Dreads and Titans - Hard hitting capital ships used for SOV warfare. SOV warfare as gone from the days of HP grind to the "magic wand". We still have towers and other things to blow up. And the new structures are coming which will things they can blow up.
EVE Online, under the leadership of CCP Seagull, is going through a total facelift. There are features and mechanics that have been in the game for years, many untouched until now, and they are getting massive changes. Yes, they are getting changes by developers because those develops now see that the current state those mechanics are in are A) stale, B) abused, C) Broken.
Now, I don't want CCP to just go and do this! Which is why I asked that it be addressed after the Citadel release. Give the players who invested time and money (that money that allows CCP to stay open and keep developing) to see if what they originally developed their character for is still a viable choice.
-- The Skill extractors and Injectors do in some ways touch upon this, but on a much smaller scale. From what I have read and feel, that would be like me going - I hate Ice mining, i'm going to extract my Ice mining skills and trade off those SP. They don't cover the fact that say, the player has 60 million SP all in Capital ships, CCP goes and makes changes that redo the role and purpose of those ships, into something that the player does not enjoy.

Reallocation makes sense when there is an SP ceiling, but in EVE there is no limit to what you can train and you can change what your training at any time with no penalty.
I actually think its a good thing that you start from the beginning like everyone else when you change to a new 'career'.
EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided"

...
Step 1) Extract the xp in the unwanted skills. Step 2) Inject the xp back into wanted skills. Step 3) Love the thing you hate to love. Skill injection accomplishes the same task without extra dev time that your suggestion would require.
Shooting Structures = PVP Mining
