Edited by: welsh wizard on 30/01/2007 16:47:48 Along with the "give the mofo/titan a high warp strength" idea the only other useful suggestion so far.
I like this one in particular because it means to kill the expensive ship you have to put your own expensive ships on the line. This could be used in conjunction with the high warp strength idea, ie,, you need 3 or 4 capital ships to hold the super-capital down.
Would fit into the roleplay aswell.
Thoughts?
edit: Apologies if this has already been raised, I wasn't aware of it.

Well the secret to that has eluded all tacklers since Eve began hasn't it?
I guess the answer to your question is that cunning and strategic play are required.

And what do they accomplish if they Flee? I'm assuming they had a goal if they brought a titan to the area and they probably cant achieve that running with their tails between their legs.

and how long does ti take for a capital to align... oh thats right, bloody ages
theres no problem here, allready you can bump them with BS and its fine, also a dictor will hold them, the big issue is killing their cap so they cant jump,. and 10 BS with 8 neuts in high will take even the most skilled pilot under the jump cap limit.
so, all in all there is no problem here.

I like idea in general. Especially since bubbles don't work on "pre-warped" ship(and low sec) and bumping is ... petitionable as harrassment(try bumping freighters in empire :P ).
I don't think it will help catching one, though.

As far as I'm concerned, only thing that should be able to generate a field strong enough to tackle a capital ship should be a ship of equal or greater class.
Consider the "Fat Kid" arguement, you have 2 100-lb kids all jump on a 300-lb fat kid, and tell them to tackle him to the ground. He'll just plow through them like no ones business. The engines on a capital ship are the size of non-capital ships, how the heck to you expect to overpower them?

Smartbombs make quick work of any small ships or bubbles that may prevent the mom / titan from warping.
I as well would like to see cap ships given a specific warp strength, how about 3 for dread, 5 for carrier, 10 for mothership and 20 for titan..
Then give us a capital warp scrambler..strength 5 pts, 50 CPU, 100k grid, 50 cap/5secs, 50km range

Exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of. Those numbers seem reasonable to me also.

If they let bubbles work in lowsec, and fix the bug with anchored/dictor bubbles, then these wouldn't be needed...

1. Bumping a mothership or titan with a BS hardly does anything due to the huge mass. 2. Dictor bubbles won't hold them, because titans/ms tend to fit smartbombs which wtfbbq those bubbles. 3. You can neut them under the cap limit, but they can still warp away, and if they have a cloak fitted, they'll just cloak until they can jump.

With the amount of time and iskies that goes into acquiring a MS or titan, why would you want them if they weren't immune to such tactics? A fleet should have no problem driving off a mothership or titan if it is poorly supported. Who would invest in one if u could scramble it with a ship that costs a frction of the price? If it took 3-4 dreads to scram it, it would still be a retarded gamble, and fairly useless for attacking any alliance with a dread fleet.
as it stands, motherships and titans are plenty vulnerable, if you've got the strength to combat one. If you don't, and your enemy has such ships, you might think about revising your standings, and put your diplos to work, cuz you're gonna get plowed.

You can scramble a tech II Rokh with a civilian fitted ibis. Relative cost should not even be an issue.

He has a point, given the time required to down a super-capital and the amount of bumping you need to do it is ultimately going to end in failure. I'm not sure whether anyone else has made a serious attempt on a mothership but this corp has.
I'm sure the Establishment pilot could fill you in.

there is already an ingame mechanism for dealing with capital ships warp engines. you simply self destruct a pod within 0metres of the capital
you then sit pointing and laughing as the crazy cap ship pilot wonders why hbe can not go more than 6m/s
some people wont figure it out some people will have been stuck on corpses trying to undock and end there lifes after they realise they died to being stuck on a corpse

I'm definitely of the opinion that motehrships and titans should be stoppable... Its s lil insane that even when confronted with hundreds of enemy pilots they can just warp off.
Then again i think jumping should have a much bigger cooldown on it, similar to the doomsday devices... just to make them a group thing that gets screwed when caught off guard.
