Hi there!
I have just bought my first cruiser (a Stabber) and I am very proud of it :D I think I have it pretty well tanked (3864 shield with recharge of 512 sec), but now I have to decide on weapons. There are so many weapons and I heared all kinds of stuff about tracking speed and not being able to hit with some guns. What would be the best setup for long range and what for short range? Besides, which is better, short or long range?
Thanks in advance.
A proud Stabber owner :D

FYI: There is a Ships and Modules section of these forums where asking about ship setups is usually done. Check on the stickied post for a ship index where you can dig up links to ship setups that have alread been answered. If you do not find your ship in there or cannot fit what is proposed feel free to ask.
That said you will want to fit projectile weapons on your Stabber. Each ship gets a variety of ship bonuses which you can read about in the ship info. In most cases you will want to play to these strengths. The Stabber gets a bonus to Medium Projectile weapons so that should be the first thing you look at.
Beyond that I have never flown one so cannot say although I know some senior players who still jump in their Stabber saying they love that ship so have fun!

As was said the ship forums is best for this.
Long range or short range depends on you really, what you want. I use 220s and assault launchers in the hi's, an AB, web and tracking disruptor in mids. A nano and 2 gyro's in low's. Try out a few setups and see what you like. Check out the ship forum, and train up gun skills.

Well, thanks for the responses so far. I have decided to go for the 4 x 720's so I have good long range weapons, but I am not quite sure how can I ever fit those on my ship like they propose here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=138407
Any idea's how I can get enough powergrid? And where can I find those 10% power upgrades, not sure which they mean.

That is a very old thread, 3 years old in fact, so the set-up is likely a bit out of date. If you wish to use long range guns on your Stabber (PvE I assume, though Rupture is better for this so work towards getting one of those ASAP if you are doing missions. More fitting and a better tank) use 650mm Artillery. They are weaker but easier to fit, though they also have better tracking.
Other than that I'm not sure really, I don't ever remember myself using the stabber I had for PvE, and certainly haven't used one recently (I'm Amarr spec'd now) so I don't know what to fit.. Perhaps someone else knows.

Along these lines you will often see a ship setup in those forums with something like [RMR] or [REV] in the subject line. This indicates after which build the setup was designed.
RMR = Red Moon Rising (major upgrade before Revelations) REV = Revelations (current build)
I wouldn't look at much before RMR for a setup as things have changed a good deal. You might still get some ideas from older setups but of course the more recent the better.
