This Guide is a break down of what I consider the hardest level 4 missions in the game. These missions for one reason or the other are always posted about on the Forums and I hope I can give some tips to make things easier.
Level 4 Missions that are considered Hard Worlds Colide The Blockade Right Hand of Zazzmatazz Extravaganza Missions Pirate Slaughter
Worlds Colide The first section should be easy for any Raven pilot since you should be able to pick off the targets from range. As long as you fit to protect against Kinetic from the Guristas Missiles, you will be fine. Since you are New, DON'T TAKE THE RIGHT GATE, Guristas Gate! The Serpentis/Angle gate, Left Gate, is the easier of the two gates by a large margin!
In the Second Room, start moving towards the next gate right away. Kill the ships that target you and then try to avoid shooting anything that doesn't attack you first. You should be able to make it to the gate with out problems.
The Third Room itÆs best to keep flying forward when you warp in. Kill off the targets that lock you. You will most likely be jammed a few times, but you will be okay. Unlike the second room, this room gives you distance to work with, so pick off the targets from distance and then save the crew.
The Blockade This is one of the hardest missions in the gameà If you donÆt know the rule. The Rule is easy to follow, there is a battleship with a different name then the rest of the ships. Save him for last and the next wave will not spawn on you till heÆs dead! Kill off the targets and make sure not to kill the one differently named BS and things will go easy. Again, fit for Kinetic, since you will be shot at from extreme ranges you will not be able to hit them till they get closer.
Right Hand of Zazzmatazz This can be a very hard mission until you realize you only need to worry about 1 target. The Boss ôZonö (if I remember his name correctly). The Boss is the only ship putting out large amounts of damage; focus on him first. I would pick Torps for this mission over Cruise Missiles unless you have good skills. Once he dead, the rest of the targets should be easy to kill.
Extravaganza Missions Wither it be Angle or Guristas both missions are kinda Hard. Angle in my eyes is harder due to the damages you need to protect against (ALL OF THEM). But this mission is not something that canÆt be done solo. Since every room the targets are all in pockets, pick 1 pocket at a time and kill them off, then the next pocket. As long as you donÆt fire at several pockets at once, this mission is long, but not impossible.

Pirate Slaughter This is the test, the test of tests if you ask me. If you can solo this mission every other mission is now easy by comparison! Fit for Kinetic since you are gonna have to deal with a hell of a lot of missiles. If you find that you get lag in busy missions, this one will test your hardware. I have found that disabling the Audio in the Eve Control Panel makes large amounts of lag go away in this mission, also will save you from the headache you will get from hearing 10000 explosions hit your ship for 1.5 Hours.
The First section can be very scary if you are not ready for it. There are a lot of ships, they are everywhere and there are no real defined pockets which makes it very hard to not agro everyone. Once you get in, start moving away from the gate (even though itÆs 80+KM away) you want to have some distance from the swarms in case they all come at you. Pick a general pocket of ships and target the Battleships first. These bastards are going to send Torp after Torp at you and even with nice resists you will feel the pinch from being hit from so many Torps. Kill off that pocket and move to the next.
If you took full agro or large amounts of agro, get ready see the black space turn orange from all the missiles you will have sent your way. The main reason you want distance in this mission isnÆt gonna help with the missiles but it will help with the hybrid secondary damage. Make sure your drones kill the frigates who get too close. Kill off the pockets one at a time and then move towards the gate when there are only 2 pockets left. The Gate is far away and most likely even further now that you have moved away from it for distance.
The Next room is more of the same, so handle it the same way, kill the BS first then the Cruisers and BCs. Move towards the gate (also 80+kms away) and take your time. This mission is easy if you take your time and pick your targets. If you get rushed you are gonna freak out and lose control of the situation. Since the gates are so far away, the last thing you want to do is Warp out.
The Last Room is the Test I was talking about. There is no situation in any Level 4 that will scare you more then this last room. When you warp in the room looks almost the same as the last 2, lots and lots of targets and in different groups. The Only difference and the reason this mission is so hard, as soon as you fire 1 shot, everything will agro you. EVERYTHING! Before you even think about locking someone, align to something, Station, Belt, Planet, and start moving towards it till you are at your max locking range.
Once you are at your max locking range, target the closest ship and fire. Now every ship will agro you at once and fire at once. This is gonna lag you up for around 2-10 seconds. DonÆt freak out, it more or less always happens and you will not insta-pop. Just make sure that you are aligned to something so if things get bad, you can warp away. This last section is gonna make you lose sight of the way to do it, donÆt over micro manage, pick a spot on your shields that you donÆt want to drop below, say around 50%. When your shields get near 50% turn the booster on and boost your self back up a bit. DonÆt waste cap trying to reach 100%, stay around 85% and give your cap a chance to catch up. Cap rigs are so nice in these situations as are Gist Boosters.
Kill the Battleships first, the torps are gonna hit you for a lot more then the rest of the missiles and they are gonna hit you a lot. Kill the battleships then the Cruisers and BCs, let your drones take out the frigates. The Frigates will web you, and you really donÆt want to be swarmed in this mission, so keep moving. The key to this mission is to relax, it will scare you seeing that much agro at once. I have a CNR with Gist gear and I still try to play it safe on this mission. Take your time and pick your targets and you will be Okay.

I hope this helped, please feel free to add other missions or tips for these missions listed.
Also, before trying to do any level 4 mission alone it's always a good Idea to go with a firend or two and do them as a gang. That way you can see what works and what is a bad idea and have enough firepower to make things easy for the first time.

Your tips seem to be heavily aimed at raven pilots. Would be nice to have a section on which missions cause problems for turret or drone users too.

Thanks a bunch for the guide . Even if I'm not a raven pilot (domi drone boat), it's very nice to have a feel for what the lvl 4's might be like before throwing myself to the sharks. As a pilot who is just about ready to graduate from 3's (I think...) this is just what I needed. Thank you!

I'd just like to add:
In the Serp side of Wc4 Guristas/Serpentis version, the moment you touch the Angel spies the entire stage will aggro. You CAN release/use drones in that stage without having it all aggro despite popular belief, just leave the Angel spies alone until you can tank what is left.

i managed to avoid full aggro by traveling towards the top right side, away from the top right bunch of frigates, to my max targeting range of 80km. so the right most frigates were 80km away, the other ships 80 to 130 or so, dont remember exactly..
Satellite dishes - X - X - Satellite dishes - frigs - 80km - me
when aggroing the frigs i drew aggro from about half of them.. the ones more than 100km away remained peaceful. so the trick seems to be not stand in front of all of them at max targeting range, but to get to the far end of their line..
did this only once, cause it took me several minutes to get into my sniping position..and without an AB its no fun in a bs :-)

Edited by: Willo Vasquez on 31/01/2007 14:43:08 I won't go into specifics on what to do in each mission, but my method in my Domi is simple, work up the food chain in each spawn - Frigates first, Cruisers next, then the BS's, the logic being that frigates and tacklers can web and scramble, and this 'is a BAD thing'. Pre-target your chosen group, keep the transversal velocity nice and low, get agro, then set your drones out (except Angel extra room 1), and the frigs will pop nicely at range.
One nice trick I've found is when fighting Ranged BS's. Send the drones in first, the BS's can't out run them and sit there spinning in space, while you close in guns blazing.

Edited by: Majin82 on 31/01/2007 18:18:34 Enemies Abound 5/5 This mission is so much easier now that they fixed it. The mission use to start spawning ships as soon as you accepted the mission, which was really bad! If you accepted it and then waited a while before doing it, there would be a lot more targets then if you went right away. Now they have fixed it so that ships donÆt spawn until you are in the Mission pocket. This makes doing this mission so much easier, just donÆt warp out more then once.
The Key to this mission is destroying the stargate. The only thing you should be worrying about is that gate. The longer itÆs alive the harder things will get. Fit a Sensor Booster and Torps since you want to be able to lock it as soon as you warp in and you want to destroy it as fast as you can. The Shields and Armor are gonna drop away fast, itÆs the Structure that has huge HP.
Fit to protect against the Primary damage as much as you can: 3 Active Primary Hardeners, 1 Invul. Field, 1 Shield Booster, 1 Sensor Booster. Fit in the lows what you need to fit this tank and 6 Siege launchers. I would go with a Large Shield Booster II over any Xlarge for this mission cause you will need to keep you cap alive for the 5-10 mins it can take to destroy the gate.
Since as soon as you get in the ships will fire at you, you will want to attack them back, DONÆT! Lock the stargate and fire at it right away. Let your drones kill the ships near you, your only goal is that Stargate. As soon as it pops get out, since the Objective will be met. This mission will go by a lot faster with 2 people shooting that gate.
edit: If your Torp locking range is less then your max locking range, you don't need the sensor booster, fit an extra Invul. Field.
P.S. I am glad you all like this so far. Sorry I am posting from a Caldari perspective thatÆs all I fly.

Vengeance can be very difficult for beginning pilots. The big BS in the last stage tends to shoot down most missiles with defenders, and has quite a tank to break.
Add onto this that the turrets in the stage target from incredible distances and do damage you won't be tanked for, and this is a tough one for a lvl 4 newbie.

As for Vengeance, just clear out everything but the final named with cruises, go refit with Torps and a AB and then close in to <5km on the final boss to kill.

Been a while since I gotten Vengance but I seem to remember the best suggestion was to approach the last ship without locking target. And you could get very close before he tries to escape you. My plan is to try this without AB to avoid changing my setup for him. Oh and cruise works pretty well against him, just need to get close and his defneders are shooting air!

Nice guide,
I fly an Abaddon (with lasers).
I tend to avoid Worlds Collide and the Extravaganzas - it is doable but it just takes so )&*@#&) long.
The Blockade is pure cash - counting bounties, crap loot, and salvage I estimate a tally somethimes above 50M per. :D . Pirate Slaughter is nice too. I really wouldnt rate Right Hand (it's Zor btw) that hard, dual resist thermal and pick off the cruisers at range and you should be fine.
Abaddon is a great mission running ship, far superior to the Apoc imho.
Remember Majin - the rats change in missions depending on where ya are - if I fit Kinetic on a BR Blockade - I'd soon be in a pod ;).

3 Tach Modulated Beams, 3 Mega mod pulses, and 2 NOS,
Obviously the two diff types of guns have different ranges so you have to micromanage it a bit more than say, if you went all MP II's. The NOS do get subbed out for smartbombs on occassion, or the extra gun. Even with 6 guns I have no problem breaking tank on 1.5M + BS'es - I havent run into a 2+ Angel one tho - hope I don't either, I hate fighting them.

I would love to do a Blood Raider Blockade! It would be even easier since they can't hit you at ranges. For a missile ship, as long as you protect aginst the EM missiles, the BR ships would never get near enough to do any damage.
Again sorry for my narrow views on some of these missions, I worked for the Caldari Navy and got almost all Guristas Missions. My new agent is in a different area of space and seems to be giving a lot of BR missions (Just started with them yesterday). ------------------------------------- The difference between a Pirate and an Anti-Pirate is that an Anti-Pirate fights ships fitted with guns!

Now I'm back with a crystal set and hopefully the booster will let me live now (doing 1200 or so boost instead of 600).
I found guistas extravaganza to be quite easy, angel extravaganza was a little more difficult because they close in on you, but really that just makes it easier to loot XD I am a corp thief. Don't ever let me in your corp, else I'll rob you all. |

Here's an interesting way to run missions that I often do with a friend of mine: I set myself up in a scorp, cruise/siege launchers as my only weapons (other then drones). The low and mid slots are all filled with cap regen upgrades. The last 2 highslots contain 2 large shield transporters.
My friend then gets in his caracal (well my caracal, but he's the one using it). He fits 5 hardners (sometimes 4 and a painter depending on the mission) and sits within 7km of me. Neither one of us has the ability to tank a lvl 4 mission alone, but with this setup (the shield transporters can be permanently run and give approx. the same boost per second as an x-large shield booster.
With this setup he can easily tank just about any lvl 4 mission (though admittedly we havn't done the blockade yet) and very few skills are required. (Plus it's sooooooooo cool watching a caracal tank 8+ BS's :P )

Good advice, thanks. I'm gonna have my brother in a logistics cruiser backing me up, so I think tanking won't be too big of a problem. As for destroying this stargate... I do missions in a domi, so are there any ppl out there who have done it in a domi? How effective are sentries drones? Should I just wait a couple weeks till I finish training for ogre IIs and then unleash them on the gate? The mission offer doesn't expire till like march... ---ISKies are yummy--- |

It's been a while since I did Vengeance (is it still given out since Revelations?). I don't recall ever being shot at by the turrets in the last stage. In fact, I recall picking them off from a distance with Sentries a few times, before I realized I didn't need to shoot them at all to finish the mission.

Gurista EA bonus room seems to be a joke atm, see my other post. All you need is a Gurista Diamond tag for entry (level 4) and it is not consumed upon entry. ****ty loot but another 5-6 M in bounty for very easy shooting!

Thanks for your comments. I am just trying to help out a bit, since I know what itÆs like to do level 4Æs for the first time. When I did them solo the first time, I knew the general rules of missioning, but I didnÆt know the missions. Not knowing the missions made doing them a pain in the ass and very stressful when I would make a mistake and get full agro. IÆm glad I can help out.
As for my setup Caldari Navy Raven
7 x Cruse Missile Launchers II 1 x Tractor beam
1 x Gist B-Type Xlarge Booster 2 x Dread Guristas Invul. Field 3 x Active Hardener II
3 x BCU II 2 x PDS II
3 x Cap Recharge Rigs
When I first started doing them I used a regular Raven, and didnÆt have any faction gear, only T2 stuff. Really makes things much easier now.

My setup is very close to yours Majin, I removed the tractor for most mission for a drone control range, unless the objective require a looted item. I am still not using rigs, so I have one cap recharger in mid slot.
Still hoping for the Blokade mission, started to log in from work just to decline the boring ones to take advantage of the 4hr cool-off time. Also, please note that letting a mission expire = faction loss:(

A lot of people seem to have problems with Guristas maiions because they will shoot you with missiles from very far out. Most times you have to fly towards them while taking damage for 5 min before you can even fire back.
If you can get your kinetic protection high: 87-93%, every single Guristas mission (where you are hit primarly with Kinetic damage, can be considered easy! (except Guristas base on WC level 4)
The Key to this is to fit only for Primary damage and let your Invul. Field and speed/distance cover your holes.
As I listed above for a mission like Pirate Slaughter I'll fit 3 x Kinetic and 2 x Invul. Field with a DCU II in the lows. While a lot of the stacking causes loss to the protection, I can still get it over 90%.
Some missions, like Angle missions can be far harder due to all damage types being used.
