Did you remember to check our Wiki, specifically the DirectX fix?

Edited by: Hulf Nafr''ak on 31/01/2007 21:56:58 Yes I remembered...I copied the file all over the place just to be shure :).
thnx for the quick response anyway...I shure hope to get this thing fixed soon.
The bizare thing is, that the game worked...and after reinstall..it doesnt work. Could be that im doing something wrong with the installation..?..Or that I have changed anything last time I installed it. I have no idea where to start...

Edited by: Alurio on 31/01/2007 23:57:05 That error is indeed an odd one...
My font config doesn't have the term "cachedir" anywhere in it, and my /etc/fonts/conf.d directory doesn't have anything with "delicious" in its name.
You may want to look into any know bugs with your distro and desktop environment's font configuration.
I read somewhere else that someone had good results with a (possibly) related issue by grabbing Arial.ttf from somewhere and dropping it into .cedega/EVE/c_drive/windows/Fonts (replace EVE with your game dir name).

Oki....I just installed a different linux distro...got me the deb package for winex and installed eve. I have direct rendering on and anything works great...except I have the same problems with eve. I copied d3dx9_30.dll to the system32 folder. When I start eve I get the splashscreen...and it loads a few seconds then crashes without output :(. Other games that I tryed work well.
How can I get some debug output from the application?..or what should be the next step to fix this?
Thanks

In Cedega, once you highlight the Eve icon don't hit the Play button. Instead, bring down the File menu and select Debug, choose the channels you want and output it to a log file (or start Cedega in a terminal and just output the debug channels to the console).

Wow, Hulf... your issue just keeps getting more weird... hehe
Keycode 47 is your "v" key. Are you using a non-US keyboard or keyboard layout?
Also, have you set your Cedega profile for Eve to use the GDDB entry for Eve? That may correct the issue with the x11 driver missing, but that's an odd error anyway since your distro likely uses XOrg rather than XFree.
Speaking of that, let's take a closer look at your graphical setup. Please run 'glxgears -printfps' for about 30 seconds, and post its output here. Also please run 'glxinfo | grep direct' and 'glxinfo | grep vendor' and 'glxinfo | grep version', and paste their output here.
Also, have you tried running any other games both via Cedega and natively? Does your setup pass all of the Cedega system tests (Tools -> System Tests -> Run All)?

All tests run without problems and Evil Genius is runing without problems with same cedega. GDDB is set to defaults and EVE online..and I use latest engine.
119765 - 0004:fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_KEYBOARD_DetectLayout Your keyboard layout was not found! Using closest match instead (Croatian keyboard layout (specific)) for scancode mapping.
I cant get smarter out of the other debug dumb. Thanks for the help anyway

Hmm... are you using a Croatian keyboard or keyboard layout?
Also, while your video driver certainly appears to be working correctly it is an odd version number (7184). Are you running a distro compiled for a non-32-bit environment? If so, which one, please (i.e. AMD64 or IA64, etc.)?
If you are running a 32-bit distro please update your driver. I'm currently running 8776, and the latest one is 9746.

:)...im using slovenian keypoard layout...I tryed US ...but had no errors in the game...when I was running it without problems. Yes Im running x11-drivers/nvidia-legacy-drivers-1.0.7184 in my amd 64 enviroment...but that shuldnt be a problem I guess...cos everythig else is working flawlesly. I dont wanna look smarter than I am...but Eve worked great...untill I did the last upgrade....when I removed the whole folder :(. The thing is, that I dot want to change things in the system level that could influence the the game as it worked before....so im freazed just on the installation and configuration of eve..like It worked before :(.
I allredy own you milions isk dude...just for replying :)...coz im a dirthy student who cant even pay the few bucks for cedega support and im alternativly runing xwine...just to have a good sleep at night.... Its the only game I play and I think its the only one that I fit in...and without a shell...im ready to give up even a 2003 account :P. I realy dont know cedega or wine stuff...and Im realy lost in the log/debug info....I dont know realy where to start...and a dual bot is not an option...I rather give up few mils skill points and some fun...than where my homedir is. So thanks in the future for any reply....have fun.

Edited by: Risar Surtr on 03/02/2007 06:45:32 Of course, you could try updating the nvidia drivers. Its not unusual for something "new" to need "new" dependancies, and in light of the recent patches having graphics work in them your probably best off at least trying the newer versions.
Also its been my experience that occasionally a "feature" in cedega breaks eve. So sometimes you have to turn things off or on to get it to work.
Oh, and I dont think your problem has anything to do with the keyboard error. This is clearly an issue with something in the graphics system. |

Hmm...im realy stuck with thisone. I searched the web for every possible solution there is..with no luck. I just cant get past the splashscreen...it just crashes on the revelations picture :(. I reinstalled everything...cedega, latest drivers and pimped up my system with 10 games that work great....except for eve-online. If you can get smarter out of my logfile....help would be wery nice.

A possible solution to fix a blank screen after splash screen is to copy some fonts from Windows (i do not exactly know what fonts are required, I copied them all to cedega windows dir)

I've only found that the eve client needs one font to run... Arial.tff Which can be found here http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~gordeon/arial.zip
On a side note... I think EVE runs faster in Wine than Cedega...

This is very good note! Running under Wine is more suitable for me. There are 3 problems solved: 1. I can switch languages inside the game 2. I can see players' avatars, ship pictures. 3. Wine is free $-)
