A Funny thing happened to me after I had cleared a level 2 mission. I foudn a few good rocks to mine and brought in a miner to clear them out and make a little extra cash since it was only a level 2 mission. Low and behold about 5 minutes after I started I suddenly loose all my shields and I'm in to Armor. Needless to say I warped out and asked questions later. Found the Log entry that said Beacon hits you for XXX damage. There was no warning, no lock on just Beacon hits you.
Intredpid explorer and now curious I repair the minor damage and go back out with the miner. I turned on all the overhead displays and started weeding through them to elimenate garbage. Only thing that showed up as a Beacon was the Beacon marking the secret jump gate. Then I got hit again by it and lost shields and a bit of armor, but only after I started mining the roids.
Came back in a Cruiser to see what would happen. Waited 20 minutes nothing happened. Locked on and went to destroy it and got the typical dangerous action warning.
Is this a new feature of missions that you can't mine any roids in it anymore?

I misread that as "Bacon Shooting".
This thread totally killed my hopes of a new version of the snowball launcher.

yup, they certainly did. read the patch notes.
Removed mostly due to them being abused by people in hi sec to lull people into aggro.
As mentioned elsewhere,, snowballs were the only thing that allow you to get red bracketed in hi sec without concord reaction. And believe me, if someone was red bracketed to me in hi sec i'd open up at them back.

Somewhere this week I did a level 4 mission and after I shot everything, I got attacked by a large wreck  that was flashing red in space and in my overview... Never saw that before...

Sounds like The Blockade L2. Didn't you also get a message about some of the asteroids having traps?

Yep, they're boobytrapped 'roids. 50km smartbomb blasts, with a chance to trigger on every laser's cycle. Not worth mining that mission.

Yes, it was the L2 Mission Blockade where your job is to clear out all the waves of pirates camping the gate. Didn't get any message about booby traped asteroids however. Wasn't going to stick around getting pounded by a target I couldn't hit.
