The only difference is that real lions and real gazelles don't whine in the forums.

So not getting "obvious jokes" is a sign of being a carebear? Not everybody understands the same humour or speaks English for that matter. And the surname Industries in my corp name does not mean Industry is the only thing it does, or the only thing *I* do for that matter. Good job.

Exactly. Considering how many whines there have been lately against every single kind of player out there in masses, you can't people not to be a little hostile nowadays. That's exactly the reason why I reacted to this thread like that. Because it just seems like another go at a group of players.

Well i really can't see a prob with ppl who don't want to PvP. 
I guess it's because WoW destroyed the PvP-er's brains so they just shoot everyone to make things to their level.

Averse - to be against, to go away from.
Adverse - to negatively affect.

So you are saying you are not a carebear? 
Carebears are made up of various mindsets. One of those mindsets are people who get offended by labels. As such I'm willing to bet you are a carebear.
Its only offensive if you make yourself feel offended. Carebears were about being nice to each other, helping each other out and selling plush toys to children. Take out the plush toys and being a carebear isn't such a bad thing in itself.
So perhaps the question for the carebears of EvE isn't what would be a more PC name for them, but why being called a carebear is so offensive.

I'm saying I'm not the kind of "carebear" that solely does activities that rely on "no risk at all". Which if I look around the forum seems to be the impression of every player that is called a carebear. It *is* a label. I was also saying that some of your arguments such as not getting obvious jokes seem a bit unrelated to being a carebear in my eyes.

Just look at the forum. =/ So many threads are blaming all "carebears" for nerfs, not adapting so that their (the whiners against carebears in this case) playstyle is easier, etc. And since, as I implied, carebears are a group of players that are too big and different to put under the norm "Alt" or "No Risk Takers", I don't think I'm solely speaking for myself if I say it's getting quite annoying. Wrong sir, wrong. The Carebears are responsible for the latent agressive instincts of our generation. Let's look at the facts...
1) Carebears were equipped with weapons of mass destruction. Don't beleive me? Watch some of the old movies and watch as the "villains" cried out in horror and pain while they were repeatedly pummeled by the dorsal mounted lasers.
2) The attack call was labeled "Carebear Stare!" Now, this is strictly Communist in nature. A stare if obviously a look of complete disapproval and the fact that the group acted together clearly shows that deviance from the norm would result in your torture and demise. Otherwise, wouldn't it be "Carebear Concerned Glance!" or "Carebear Loving Look!"
3) Did I mention the tummy-mounted lasers?
Clearly, this label for "Carebears" is inappropriate. I suggest, instead, that Empire dwellers be refered to as the Holidays. Why you ask? Well, obviously, their only point is to stimulate the economy.

I carebear, and mine, and do indy things.
I also have been in multiple fights that would make a lot of LowSec prats sh*t themselves.
I lost a couple drakes this month, I killed people and they lost their ships, but I defend mission running, so just what am I then?
The term Carebear is just wayyyy way too overused and far too sweeping a generalization. |
