I have been playing with the setup of my EVE clients after reading the Prefs.ini guide.
I have been able to configure a custom Windowed size by using the Nvidia Display options. Under the "Screen options & Refresh rates" tab is a custon resolution area. This adds it to the list of options available under EVE graphics.
For me, running on a LCD screen with 1920x1200 native size I found that 1840x1150 filled most of the screen without overlapping to my scrondary screen (which kills frame rate).
(I also go a significant increase in frame rate by running the second EVE client on the second instance of the graphics card listed)
I hope that others find this information useful.

1) Modify your prefs.ini 2) Use Eve Launcher
And everything will be fine

1) works neither retroactively, since the resolution is stored in a .dat file in your cache folder separately for each account; nor does it work even if you delete said .dat files.
2) doesn't work because it can move the window just fine, but if you resize the window that way, your mouse cursor won't point at where it's being drawn which is because EVE internally still runs at the old window size and doesn't know that it's output is being resized. Besides, it's yet another tool to fix something that can be solved naturally, so why bother?
Qi Man's solution works beautifully - I've found out the very same thing only a few hours later then him.
The steps are the same, only I had to switch to and use the new modern-looking Nvidia Control Panel rather then the good ol' one. So if someone wants to try this solution but has the driver tell them that the custom resolution could not be set and you have two LCD monitors attached to the video card, going the extra mile through the "new" control panel might be worth a try.

Qi Man deserves the 'discovery of the year' for this :)
After searching forever for ways to do it this is just so wonderful. Thanks.

Edited by: Pardot Kynes on 07/02/2007 18:08:12 @Elberet : I'm using this solution for my 3 accounts (the Eve launcher + prefs.ini) and no problems with the cursor or else. Plyaing with 1680*1050, with the semi-fullscreen option from Eve Launcher enale, and it runs flawlessly.

Yeah but Eve Launcher doesn't work with XP 64bit so it is kind of hoopy. The nvidia trick works really well - in fact the new control panel one works even better than the old panel which caused me some issues when I put the timings out of wack.
thanks again Qi for discovering this.

I have Vista and my Nvidia drivers for my 8800 GTS are version 1.4.1.11
I can't find where to create a custom resolution, even when I activate the "advanced" view. Can anyone point me the way on how to create a custom resolution?
Thanks

Editing the prefs.ini doesn't do anything EveMon "Fill Screen" option doesn't work PowerStrip doesn't work with my 8800 GTS My Nvidia driver doesn't have a custom resolution button. I downloaded the latest driver. no change.

Same thing here, no doubt due to the unfinished state of the Vista drivers. Good thing I'm scrapping Vista anyway I guess.
