Dracvlad wrote:So much hate towards this player, I have actually fought against him a few times, and I respect what he did in game.
Older players have different things that get them, my biggest issue was the jump range killing my logistics to Stain, I could live with Jump Fatigue, but there was no way I could use my carrier to supply my efforts in Stain, in the end I was using worm holes and sometimes I waited weeks for a suitable one to appear. That just got ridiculous, 4 to 5 hours a day looking for suitable wormholes got just so boring and often when you got one it then got closed up or camped.
So all of my corp looked at this and just said nah, its too damn tedious.
Don't care about skill points, Makalu is wrong on the basis that this player is a very rich player who had played this game a long time so he created an alt to make a point, how many people will waste that amount of ISK and for what benefit.
The most important affect is going to be a large increase in focussed training injections that result in everyone and their dog flying black ops because that is the perfect low risk PvP in Eve, this means that more and more people will end up with a level 4 mission running alt. Of course making it so that player can stay in Eve by being able to inject into more interesting stuff does have a benefit, but if all the prey disappears then we might see the fun of black ops hunting black ops desperate for something to kill and moaning about level 4's in hisec, so CCP nerfs them and people run level 3's then CCP nerfs them and we get to level 1 missions and then what happens?
In affect skill injectors will just enable blanket cloaky camping of null sec for black ops hot drops, which is not much fun for those that end up being dropped again and again. So there you go, my view of the negative aspect of skill injectors...
TL;DR: skill point injection will speed up the PvP arms race by enabling faster changes in tactics and their counters. So CCP will keep shuffling things around to keep the PvP masses entertained with new quizzes oftener and faster; whereas new players will be left behind even more since they can't cope with both learning the basics AND staying updated on what's the current meta.
Nothing truly new here, but skill injection will bring a faster decay of the PvP meta and the need for extra development resources to keep PvP fresh. Whether that backfires or don't, we'll see.
CCP Seagull: "EVE should be a universe where the infrastructure you build and fight over is as player driven and dynamic as the EVE market is now".
62% of players: "We're not interested. May we have Plan B, please?"
CCP Seagull: "What Plan B?"

Do you think it managed to do that by changing the rules to cater for tantrum kiddies? CCP is destroying their game by feeding pubescent teen fantasies because those years don't last long and it is a difficult job trying to catch people that mentally immature for very long.

Don-¦t know OP (and don-¦t care, truth be told) but he has a point.
Skill injectors should have a hard limit at 50 mil or even 100 mil if CCP wants to be particular generous. But this is ridiculous.

Although I like your Douglas Adams reference, I think the way it applies needs to be expanded upon. I guess what I meant was, no big rage, Jita riots, or mass quittings. Maybe a mild little teatime depression among many players. But a little long and dark, because for that group of players, it somewhat busted up their idea that the game would always provide a faithful and pretty consistent alternate reality fantasy world to cruise around in. ::Cue sad and melancholy music track::: Insta-grata EVE, with commercial overtones, OK. Not the same EVE, though. Kind of like the long dark teatime when your idolized punk artists band try their first "commercial" album.

Khergit Deserters wrote:... Kind of like the long dark teatime when your idolized punk artists band try their first "commercial" album. Yeah, said it in other threads though. EVE is going to die in the transition. It will hit a point that it pushes a good portion of veterans away and isn't retaining the kiddies.
Far better would be to open a different server where they can undock and blow up pre-fitted ships repeatedly like some FPS game and have absolutely perfectly safe High Sec and not a lot of systems so they never have to travel far.
Clean cut and not the long slow drawn out agony of bleeding players. Also that way, we could have the real EVE back.
P.S. Hear WoW players moaning about that game? How it was good during Burning Crusades and then they made it too easy and just buy your way to a high level, etc? Sound familiar? We are the future, "When I was in WoW" type of players; "When I played EVE back before Fozzie SOV, etc"

I believe, among the whole bunch of pvp-oriented "pubbies" the changes will not be popular. they do tryed hard to earn this non-existing "SP". But its extremly nice for some newbie carebears, also, social players like me, to have an option to get to new things fast, so there will be a way more stuff in game.
Also, it will provide better access for new audience, like, you know, women. Actual women, not Makalu kind of.. |
