With My Ishkur.
I am at level 2 in assult ships and want to get it to level 4.
With that said, will still have enough tank at level 2 with active hardeners ? i have my thermal and kinetik in level 4 as wel because i have been killing off gurista's lately.
I have seen players tank in an ushkur and have like 2 or 3 1.2 or 1.3 mill rats and 3 of those hit an ishkur ant barely dent it at all.
So i want to be clear. and can the ishkur carry enough drones to make enough damage with the rats ?

1.2 - 1.3 mil rats = battleships. Battleship guns have terrible time tracking/hurting frigs, and Ishkur is a frigate sized ship. I have no problem breaking tank of a 1.2 mil rat with five med drones with about 570k SP in Drones. Also, Ishkur has turret slots. Expect to take a very long time though. ----- n-1. ??? n. Profit!

You don't get tank with levels of it, only range and drone capacity.. so if you use the correct hardeners and keep moving at full speed, you will be fine.. AB going at full speed is a good place to start, should be taking pretty low damage.
As to drones.. depends on your skills I guess. Big Bs can be fairly slow to kill in an AF.

but u mite have a hard time fitting 5 med drones when the ishkur only gets 40m3 drone bay with assault ships lvl5

The Ishkur's resistance bonuses come from your Frigate skill, so you already have all the resists you're going to get from the ship itself.
You can easily speed tank battleships in an Ishkur so long as you don't get webbed. I'd fit at least one explosive hardener at all times if you're ratting in case you are engaged in PvP.
As to whether or not you can break a battleship rat's tank, that's largely up to your drone skills. A tech 2 drone is roughly as effective as a tech 1 drone one class larger. So with 5 tech 2 light drones, you'll do about as much damage as the 5 tech 1 mediums. This is enough to break the rat's tank eventually, but it may take a while. At level 3, you'll be able to swap a light drone for a medium, which will do a great deal to improve your dps.
Best advice: try it and see. Preferably with friends, just in case you find you're in over your head. Assault frigates are cheap enough that you can replace it with only a little bit of effort.

Use an Enyo, it's easy to kill bs rats with an enyo.

Agree'd, my enyo can kill most BS's without reloading.

Enyo = PvE Ishkur = PvP
For the main reason that Ishkur has the extra mid slot for your PvP toys, web, scram etc.
Enyo with 4 small blasters, rocket launcher and a few mag stabs can dish out some nasty damage.

How well does a Jaguar or Wolf perform in 0.0 ratting? I would love to train directly for a Assault Ship but assumed they would not be able to rat in 0.0, and was going to train straight for Battlecruiser (Hurricane) instead.

You'll have plenty of tank. Heck, during a fleet-PvE session, I tanked 5 Serpentis Battleships without hardeners in an Enyo. Against anything bigger than a cruiser, you're really relying on your speed to foil their tracking. The resistances are really there to hold off the frigates (and some cruisers) long enough for you to kill them. Webbers are definitely not your best friends.
It's a debate for me whether or not to drag the Ishkur or the Enyo out for PvE; I've had good results with both. The Ishkur, especially with T2 mediums, can dish out a ton of damage. And has the added advantage of being a good PvP ship should you get jumped by a pirate or wartarget.
My avatar is a disembodied head. Nifty. Darn it, they fixed it. |

depends... BS NPC have these ugly 70-80% resistances where one damage type can suddenly make twice as much damage as another - and usually it's not explosive. i'd recommend angel victims and poke them with hail s ammo. (i had a hard time poking 0.0 serpentis with 4 domi gyros w/ phased plasma) but yes, tanking is not the problem, they just don't hit. they don't have a problem with hurricanes though, since they're half BS aswell. ab+sb combo on a wolf is just sweet.

AF level 5 is very nice with the ishkur, as you will be able to use 3 mediums and 2 light drones. I've tried npcing in both ishkurs and enyos, and I much prefer the ishkur for it's flexibility and ability to continuously dish out damage even when you're jammed.
While npcing in any af it is very easy to speed tank, you don't even need hardeners on the ships. With the ishkur you also have to option to npc in a pvp fitted ship, which is great while waiting for something to happen.
You really ought to have good droneskills to take advantage of the ishkur though, so the training time might be steep.

At Level 4 Assault Ship, and using T2 Ions with antimatter (Level 4 spec skill), I can take down Serpentis BS with guns alone. 2x MagStab IIs ftw. Drone wrangling gets tedious though, so now I use my Enyo for ratting, with 4 T2 Neutrons. Many level 4 missions have also succumbed to my little assault frigs, so they are very capable of killing BS.
I rarely have to bump the armor repairer, and then only for a cycle or two, and then usually to repair damage done by support destroyers or other frigs. The BS and cruisers never hit me.

QFT - To get the most out of your friendly Citron Drone Carrier, you need to be skilled up a bit. But its a very tasty ship, more flexible than it counter-part. The Ishkur can serve a number of roles (EW, Jammer, long range or short range Combat, Support) where as the Enyo is just a hard bastard that likes to get stuck in and isn't afraid of getting hurt.
Starting out, Enyo, but if you're into your drone skills the Ishkur is only better'd by its big sister..

Why use assault ships for killing battleships? Why not use a ship that will kill them far far faster.

Because they are small, fast, relatively cheap, and really fun to fly.
Why risk a 200 mill battleship when a 10 mill AF will do the job, it will also get you the hell out of dodge sharpish if trouble comes your way.

It is very true what you state here, I fly mostly hac's and yes they kill rats very quickly, is agile enough to turn around in time... most of the time that is... BS'es are imho just fat ladies, by the time you are where you want to be, you are either dead or out of cap...but the af is just so very versatile, imho one of the best ships in the game...
ofcourse I also admit that I simply can't fly a BS the way they are suppose to be flown... ------------------- Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, you will not be counting days, or months, or years but milleniums in |
