Last night we managed to complete our first series of escalating paths from an exploration site. The whole thing started with an Unknown sig in high-sec space (as I couldn't for the heck of it find any sigs in low-sec that night) namely a 'Sansha Vigil'.
That Vigil had three stages featuring a ****load of frigs, cruisers and some battlecruisers. It wasn't exactly challenging for two Absolutions and a Prophecy, but still fun to do due to respawns and associated green messages in chat. Downside: no loot to be had. A basic implant from the final battletower wouldn't be too much I guess and would make it a bit more appealing.
Anyways: on we went from escalation to escalation, following a little plot that was really fun to watch as it unfolded. Kudos to the one generating these. Downside: none of the four or five escalations (each with a tower to kill to get the next escalation) yielded any loot beyond capacitor charges and basic modules - disheartening again, considering that there were up to four battleships in the respawns of some sites (nothing special for level 4 mission *****s, but remember it was a high-sec site this originated from).
The final stage took us to 0.4, again nothing special, apart from the fact that it was one jump from a Ushra'Khan base, which added a bit of thrill for our NPC fitted ships :P This final stage had quite some NPCs and missile towers and a Sansha Battletower was to be destroyed. Before the tower finally went down it spawned a Deadspace Overseer and we thought this at least might yield some loot as the light at the end of the tunnel. Wrong. Again, no loot. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Oh, wait: the battletower dropped a Medium 'Knave' I.
So while the plot was fun the lack of some tangible reward for three hours of flying all over Devoid and Domain was a bit disheartening. We didn't expect really phat lewt from this high-sec escalating path, but some basic implants or a couple of named items would probably not be too much.
Currently there are dozens of Unknown signatures in high-sec space, which people largely ignore as the rewards are non existant. You can do Radar and Magnetometric sigs with little to no risk from which you get millions in parts and (if you are lucky) BPCs. These combat plexes are a whole lot tougher: a standard high-sec radar site has maybe 5 frigs 'guarding' it for comparison.
Please, oh please, think about ramping up the rewards for completed escalating paths a bit to put them in line with
Now recruiting!

Consider yourself lucky, you have seen the end of a path. Im running these in 0.0 and, well lets say they end in deadends or bugs. GMs dont help me. No loot either, and i killed a Dread Pith Something once, empty can.
Screw this.

I found a deadspace and on completion of the second level it says some of the blood ships where detected on radar leaving. Two buttons mark location and close
I clicked on mark location.
But i can't see where the location was marked. doesn't show up anywhere.
Do I have to drop another probe?
Warmly
