OK, so EBay announces that they're delisting (deleting) all MMORPG in-game item auctions. This includes iskies-for-cash.
<everyone cheers>
So that should be the end of it, right? Of course, some of the losers will move to Those Other Third-Party Sales Sites, but nothing has the visibility of EBay, so hopefully that'd cut the knees out from under them for the most part.
Oh ho ho ho, no...they've got their seekrit 12-year-old-on-the-playground trick up their sleeve!!
(and I quote from someone's "GUIDE How to make 1 billion ISK in EVE" auction released today)
Quote: As the ebay's new policy,we can not direct sell the isk anymore,But we still have the information to let you know how to get the isk immediately.
This auction is for information that will allow you to get 1000 Million ISK (1 billion) on the Tranquility Server within Eve Online.
After you pay for your information, we will send you an EVEmail to your Eve Online character in 1-24 hours(if not instant) to let you know how to get the 1 billion isk. You will get the 1 billion isk in 20 minutes after you follow the instruction of the evemail.
PRESTO CHANGEO REARRANGEO!! Instead of selling you the treasure chest full of gold, we're selling you the MAP to where our guy is who's holding it!
Puh-freaking-leeze.
I also like the idiot who's selling an official EVE-Online baseball cap, for 100+ bucks. And if you order now (right now!) we'll give you a FREE bonus of 1 billion ISK.
WTB a laser-guided, homing missile launcher for these pond scum.

Why is this an issue? People who spend rl money on in-game isk are 99% carebears running level 4 missions.. The macro miners flood the market with cheap low end minerals so the producers can make big profits off it so isk buying mission runners can pimp thier rides..
All is well..

What half witted person would buy information to get that ISK , the seller can just " provide " false information, another scam type and get away with it. Therefore the trust factor is no longer applied to these " information" auctions. Any person who understands this , it is a two way fraud system and would stay away from it. The effect has already been made. Just sit back and watch the barrel roll down the hill.

The only problem with RMT is the fact game developpers made making ISK pretty damn boring overall. Most ISK seems to be made by people grinding, and unless your seriously ****** up in the head, grinding isnt fun game time. Hence people 'outsource' it. Same with most, if not alll MMORPG's. I dont buy ISK (I'm poor IRL ) but I dont blame people that do.

I suppose it's not an issue if you're a PC rat who likes ganking low skill people in high dollar boats. But this is the third game now that I've seen this going on in (duh, it happens everywhere), and I'm just sick of it. Especially in a game like EVE where there's a framework for ISK transactions already setup.
Mostly I guess I'm just venting because the perfidy of human beings still amazes me. Ignore me, more of a rant-without-a-solution than a lets-round-up-a-posse-and-shoot-the-ebayers kind of deal.

I disagre: 90% are "wanna be a mission runner" losing multi billion isk ships in missions to difficult for the skills the have or "wanna be a pirate" losing the same multi billion ship against serious PvPers.
A "carebear" for the standard definition is someone that find pleasure building something. That require patience and dedication. An isk buyewr want istant gratification, so he is not a carebear for that definition.

Sure. Keep telling yourself that...
A large amount of people who buy isk off ebay are 'PVPers' who are 'teh suck' and deperately want to keep up with the 'cool crowd', but can't cover their losses. I've met a lot of those guys....good loot sometimes.

No 'problem' mate, just disagreeing with your '99% of ebayers are mission runners' claim.
Clear now?

Lot of people sell in-game items or money to make real money. If Ebay restricts them from doing that, don't expect them to sit still and do nothing. Of course, they're expected to be innovative and come up with new ways to sell their stuff.
