I cant help thinking this game is actually quite boring. I have a battleship and covert ops ship but do not really have anything to do with them, am I missing something here, the agents tasks seem so repetitive and boring.
Any suggestions please, apart from the usual join another game ones.. Thank you

You decide what to do and how to have fun, the game doesn't. Some people can handle that, some people can't.
PS: Using all caps in your title makes you look like a twit.

Battleship: Join an alliance somewhere that fights. Use it to fight.
Cov-Ops ship: Same as above, but use it to scout out enemy camps or POS locations in enemy inhabited space
Simple really. ------

Your battleship and covert ops would be much more fun to fly against other players, join a pvp corp, you will no longer have a lack of things to do.

'The agents tasks'. The phrasing of this suggests you do missions for a living. Try playing the actual game instead of just grinding ISK . (Oh, and yeah, the agents tasks are repetitive.)
The question is what do you want to do? ----------

The game is very boring until you join a corp and PvP begins to dynamically change the game.

Everything on EVE is fun and awesome when you're "freeing your mind." However, this ends in a lot of lost ships for me. :-C

There are a wealth of things to do in this game bar mission and pvp. You just have to be bothered to go find them.
Jump to alliance space and go watch their miners from your cloaked ship, once they see you in system its sure to get interesting

The ingame "content" is very exciting. However YOU are the best source for content. Do what you want to do. Join 0.0 alliance maybe? You need to be pro-active to get something from this game.

Try not to think of what you can do in terms of a career but rather what you would find fun, some purely player created professions have been created this way.
Ore thieves are one of the most obvious examples but then there are examples like ISS; a corporation that managed to grow into an alliance responsible for establishing publicly owned outposts all over 0.0 space in Eve with shareholders and everything. Piracy itself was a player created profession. Right back at the start there were very few real pvp mechanics and no such thing as criminal flags or concordoken so there was little to distinguish piracy from more standard pvp until the first corps decided to start ransoming people.
No one can tell you how to play Eve. In the end you need to be able to set your own goals and ambitions. As I said before, some people can handle that, some can't.

What possible reason could you have had to train for CovOps if not to PVP? My brain is stretching here - help me out.
Join a Corp. Whether in Empire or 0.0 you will never run out of things to do.

You are totally right. EVE in itself is boring. You cant "win" EVE, there is no god-given journey you have to embark on...
But here's the thing, EVE unlike WoW or some crap actually resembles RL in this matter. It gives you the tools to "create" fun.
(More tools are always welcome, and are being added in constantly aswell)
However, if youre a casual player i would really suggest changing the game (not a flame, but a rather serious remark, i have been playing for a long time, and EVE requires you to invest alot of time to be fun... and if you can not, you will hardly enjoy this game after the initial "wow!!" effect)

It just seemed like a good idea at the time lol.. I fancied wandering around cloaked but its hardly long lasting entertainment. Yes I should join a corp I suppose..thanks

Yes I am a casual player and I know there is much to learn, I just love the graphics and the complexity of it all, I played every space sim known to man but none come even close to this.. I wish I had more time but I dont which is a shame. However I will still come online and join in even if I dont know too much about all the things which can be done, Hell I am not even sure how to join a corp, whenever I tried they all say they are not recruiting DOH!!! cheers matey

Edited by: Plaetean on 05/02/2007 16:55:24 It's a multiplayer game.. carebearing (mining/missioning on your own) is boring to most people, the majority of people I know who have left the game have been bored with the carebearing (they were so set in their ways that they wouldn't try pvp).
This game is most definitely not boring

PvP is the best part, but there's lots and lots (and lots and lots) to do besides straight-up pew pew. Some examples:
Go learn about COSMOS, run those 'storyline' missions.
Find out about the new Exploration system (you're already mostly there).
Learn to trade. Observe the market to see where you can make a profit.
Build, and develop a production schedule.
Become an intelligence broker, and sell or pass on useful information to interested parties.
Infiltrate a corp and spy on them for somebody or steal from them.
Start your own corp, recruit, and find something you can do together.
Each of these ideas can be a 'full-time' experience in Eve or sampled with any or all of the others.

May I say, I am not criticizing Eve, I think its the greatest space sim ever created but it seems like you have to spend ages learning stuff (not the skills) just to progress a little.. I want to get much more out of it but am struggling to dedicate the time
You must be playing a different game to the one I joined. I have so much to do I'm having to start another account.
Have you joined a corp?
