If DCA proves to be truly effective, then awesome. But folks, let's not jump to conclusions. Do some research before you feed the hype-fire.
DCA is also a byproduct of TCE (trichloroethylene) which is considered highly dangerous by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and, go figure, has been known to cause cancer. DCA has also been known to cause liver cancer in lab mice.
Now, I'm an IT major, but I accidently signed up for a Chemistry of Water & Waste Water class last academic quarter and I played with trichloroethylene. It's some scary stuff.
Anyway - let's keep our fingers crossed, but to go against the original poster I wouldn't e-mail that particular link to all of your friends without supplying some more information. _

The side effects are something we need to look at, yes most drugs have side effects but this is more worrying "DCA can cause pain, numbness and gait disturbances in some patients." But If DCA does work then great -------------------------------------------------- Zemindar Supermacy is recruiting |

As opposed to the pills that keep you from peeing frequently, but cause infertility? Hell, kimo(sp?) causes all of these side effects as well and then some. So, I can't see why people wouldn't at least sign up to test the drug. I know I'll be flying to Canada if anybody I know catches a case of the Cancer. --- --- --- ---

Originally by: Derovius Vaden but they still cannot some "simple" cellular mutation.
Ignoring the fact that you're comparing the relative difficulties of balancing lipstick consistency and the analysis and repair per cell of the 20,000-25,000 genes in the human genome, the article linked challenges the common assumption that cancer is even caused by a mutation.
The research suggests that the damage to DNA which is typical of cancerous cells is not the cause of cancer but a symptom, that the cancer itself is caused by a metabolic process cells undergo when hypoxic. It looks very promising, I hope it works out. There are already a lot of targetted treatments for cancer in the works that show a lot of promise but it would be nice for this one to work out.

Didnt they say in that article that DCA has been used for years to treat metabolic something or other? And even if DCA does have bad side effects, you can guarantee that anyone out there with cancer would still take it.
