What are titled Assets?
Titled Assets are items that have ownership linked to them. IE SpaceBob buys a BPO of a Titan on the market or via a contract. He can pay a fee to have a title assigned to that BPO with his name on it. A titled asset could be shared with his corp mates but could never be moved to a private hangar or ship that was not controlled by SpaceBob.
This would make looting corporate hangars less damaging and high value items could be shared within the corp without fear of it being stolen by a player who is covering someone else.
Considering the extreme costs of many things that corps need, having those items so easily stolen makes running a corp extremely difficult. If corps were happy to share even the most valuable items because titling them made them impossible to steal then corps could continue to grow and the very disgusting practice of scamming other players with fake accounts would all but disappear.

Edited by: Alumion on 05/02/2007 20:08:17 SpaceBoB could just lock the BPO protected by a password like everyone else does. Or make a few copies of his Titan BPO and put those in the corp hangar? But no, SpaceBob is a lazy carebear and he wants the gamemechanics changed to be more convenient for him
edit
Yo SpaceBob, can I have your stuff? Especially the Titan BPO I'm out of toilet paper ---

No one has anything contructive to offer regarding this idea? Just insults and WoW references?
Why shouldn't items that cost so much be titled and ownership established?
Perhaps you don't want restrictions on who can do what with the item? Maybe anyone can take the item and do what they like but if the item is not titled in their name (or their corps name) factories and research stations, and the market will refuse to work with it?
What don't you like about this idea?

Only if we also have dodgy, back street garages who can remove the title and replace it with a new one.

If something like this were implemented then there would have to be a skill or module to counter it. The beauty of eve is that there are NO restrictions! ---------------------------

This post appears to be concerned with loss of property. Theft will occur here as it does in real life...
How about asking CCP to come up with a courts system (as in real life), whereby you take your grievences there (for a fee), and have CCP determine an outcome?
There is already a petitions system in place, I am sure this would only be a few steps from this.
Also common sense must prevail. Dont allow access to certain assets to all your corp mates.

Agreed. Though, instead of titling BPOs, I'd like to see tags on ships and modules, 'Built by SpaceBob'. Or maybe a VIN number type of thing.
I don't mind the theft in Eve. I just hate that there is no real world conterpart to tracking down stolen goods and thieves. A corp thief empties a hangar, then melts everything down. He doesn't need a launderer. Blah... that's lame.

EDIT: This is most hardcore pvp game ever made with all other harsh side effects like theft. CCP has many times said, that scaming is ok, so please stop proposing ideas that would stop this kind of income.
I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me saying "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals. |

Get over yourselves folks! CCP doesn't want to stop corporate crime... its as much a part of the game as is mining.
Corporate thievery, ore thieving, corporate espionage, gankĘing and all the restą these exist in the game because the character traits exist in real life! if you donĘt like it donĘt run a corp. stay in kisogo and mine veldsparą. With tens of thousands of people online at any given moment your going to run into both the best and worst characteristics of the human animalą deal with it! ++++++½½½½½½

Interesting Idea.
Personally though if I was SpaceBob and I owned the Titan BPO it would stay in my hangar. I would be willing to make copies for the corp, but I would never let the BPO leave my hangar, as in EVE it is just to risky.
Although I find your idea interesting it is something that I don't think would ever be implemented in EVE.

Add 'tracking devices'. You can fit any item with a small tracking device which costs, say, 10m. This is permanent and cannot be removed. It allows you to veiw the location of the item at all times, provided you put the tracking device on it. Thatll help with tracking those pesky theives ---

Luckily I'm not familiar enough with WoW to recognize the reference, so sounds like a reasonable additional feature for access controls.
In Eve mechanism, perhaps Lockable Items would be correct term? Like, paying X ISK in station (where Xxx would be big enough to save database from useless locks), you could lock any item. Such items -- Could be unlocked only by the original locker -- -- Locker could be also the corp through vote -- Show Info would have 'Locked by' and 'Possesed by' fields -- Could not be repackaged/reprocessed/trashed, and hence not sold in market/contracts (just like secure containers) -- Would appear in the Locker's assets list -- Locker could set item status to 'Stolen' (through asset list) -- Boarding/using/activating/transporting stolen item in Empire could give a small sec hit
As a consequence the system would still allow corp thieving, but with reduced efficiency. And as side bonus, we would get black market where criminals deal with stolen precious items.
Then again, might be too much of work for the benefits..
-Lasse who would rather have number based controls: can freely take from a hangar, but only X items per day/week/period per char/total

First off, 'get over yourself'? Dude, get your head out of your bum. Seriously, no one is whining that crime should be stopped.
If you want traits that exist in real life, then you want the ability to track stolen goods and the ability to exact punishment for a crime.
In Eve, I can't walk down the hall and shoot you in the head. I have to wait for you to undock. Yawn. And when I kill you, you respawn. If you want real world, you want Iron Man Eve. You die once and your toon is completely destroyed.
Sounds good to me.
No one wants crime to stop. We just want real world counterparts that make the act of the crime itself the beginning of the game, not the end.

To be fair, if I was a corp thief, I'd still take it. It would be like having 'The Frozen Corpse of', it'd just be a trophy.
But whilst this is the Crime and Punishment forum, its much more about the Naughty than the reprimand....
