Hi all, Just interested on peoples opinions are on what is the best alrounder lvl1 battleship is, I say alrounder because I would like to rat farm a bit, mine a bit and hopefully be able to take care of myself, if trouble arises, ultimately I know I probably want to go for the Raven, but currently would like to walk before I can run, any advice anyone. I have lvl4 missiles and lvl5 drones, so trying not to biase myself with 1 race.

Like said above go for the typhoon. You should find it fitting everything you want. It has drones, missles, and is pretty good in the mining field and npc chaining fields.
It doesnt make the best miner or npc chainer but it is as well rounded as you can possibly get. And it should server you very well in whatever you descide to do with it.

Go for the armageddon. if you are looking for a allaround ship then the arm is the best. best 1 lev miningship, best 1 lev farming ship. lasers rule in farming and there is nothing that¦s gona change that not even that ammo takes less space or something like that. and damage output from apoc is werry good in pvp so he¦s cool there allso. First get the money then train for something else like the raven in heavy pvp. Because you will need money to buy all those missles :) but that should not be a problem after some good time spent in farming. And it¦s allway¦s good if you loose your raven in pvp to go back on a solid money machine.

don¦t forget that, very much unlike the other lvl1 battleships, a typhoon needs a whole lot of skillpoints to become effective.
and the one thing it absolutely can¦t do is mine, with only 4 turrets it¦s about as good as a Rupture for mining, so you¦d be better off using a throrax.

Not many seem to be mentioning the dominix.
Personally I really like the idea of a typhoon but as an all rounder it falls short because it's not a good isk making machine. At the end of the day, isk makes the world go round 
Arma is nice but 3 mid slots scare me, especially after monday when a mwd might not be enough anymore.
Dominix may fall short for some in the pvp stakes but i'm sure there are ppl who would disagree and it seems to be an excellent compromise in all other areas

Best all around Battleship is the Dominix.
Why, because it has a lot of mid slots that make it configurable. It has plenty of turret slots. It has a huge drone bay. With the patch making frigates stronger, drones are going to be needed.
Weakness: Does not support missiles and missiles have been made uber strong.
Mining - one of top two
Rats - one of top two
PvP - one of two two as a support ship
Drone - the best

Dominix.
It's good at everything. Not the best at everything.
Also once the patch is applied a Dom with blasters should out damage most other tier 1 battleships making it godd for damage output too.

Scorpion will, imo, become a defensive ship and acheive it's "role" (according to TomB) by being a shield-tanking missile thrower - not a bad thing after MWD's will become rare as rocking horse **** on a BS.
Typhoon is fastest, has a ROF bonus, and 800mm's will become THE gun for smashing frigates and cruisers apart, with the 8 lo-slots providing large capacity for tanking.

Typhoon is the only way to go !!
Scorpion is butt ugly and can't handle the Typhoon in all the situations that got me into a fight whit one.

Yes the dominix is the best all around lvl 1 out there. easy to set up to do an adequate job at any task BUT it will not stand up to a specialized task compared to anyother lvl 1 BS.
What continually sways me over to the domix is its incredibly low price. Even last night with all the other lvl 1's above 70 mil there sat a domi for 54.
As far as drones the domix rules ALL battle ships with 5000 drone cargo space and an additional 5% per BS skill lvl. Many a time while farming rats unleashing 10 heavies when the cap was running low and I was warp scrambled has saved my butt from flying a pod home.
6 miner II's fit the high slots withOUT a cpu booster leaving all low slots availible for CE's.
Its' balanced and a being a jack of all trades a very fun to own ship because its easy to do anything in it. My next BS will be an arm, just because its sooooo pretty and I have found lasers to be my gun of choice. I may come back to the domi and I may not but I have never regretted owning one(the same can't be said about the megathron which I did not enjoy at all).

I bought my DOMINIX for 45 mill..They usually sell for around 47 mill.
I might add, the best value for money in a ship i have bought yet..

I expect Dominix to be better after the next patch due to improvements in hybrids, while other ships are nerfed. Scorpion will get slower and less agile, while ECM and laser crystals gets 'balanced'.

Um, Typhoon. 2nd would be Dominix. It depends on how much mining you will do. If you do more mining than anything, then get teh dom. If you rarely mine, then get the typhoon. Much better at PvP, and it can farm just as well if not better than a Dominix.

For combat it would be the Typhoon, especially after this patch, 1400mm now hit harder then anything else and have better range. With its ROF bonus and opt range bonus of course. Minmatar battleships are also the fastest and the lightest. This means that the MWD nerf hurts them much less.
Also the Dominix sucks at combat. It has less pwr grid, sheilds, equal CPU, only 6 high slots. And the big thing, no missiles, only way to defend against missiles is with misiles.
Typhoon faster, stronger sheilds, smaller (slower to lock, 350 sig strength vs 600), 8 high slots and can make use of all of them 4 1400mm and 4 seige or h-50 (siege if you have lvl 5 enginering), 8 low, 3500m3 drone bay (14 heavy drones), and it has 6.75sec target speed vs the domx's almost 9 sec.
Oh and I forgot to mention more cargo space.
Also since those proj and missiles need no capac to fire, that leaves all your capac to defense like sheild tanking. Also when the capac runs dry, she can still fight on till the last moment.

what really bugs me about the Typhoon is the crappy ship bounus. ROF is nice, but the range bonus doesn¦t really pay out, since all it does is give you a few extra kilometers... but i hear that that might get changed to falloff. :)

ECM nerf is supposed to come in a later patch, no?
