Posted - 2007.02.07 22:43:00 - [1] So being a poor student I would have never even though about buying a nextgen console, but after figuring out i have almost 200$ in credit at a local electronic store (weee!) and the fact that my roommate is going halves with me, I've decided to buy one! So the question is, Xbox 360 or Ps3? No, I am not getting a wii my fiance already has one and i ***** her's all the time keke. Were mostly going to be using the system for Madden 07 tourneys but I want Halo 3 but i also want Metal gear but but aldalskdjklasdj ahhhh so torn. Also one of the main arguments is cost but in this case its really not an issue...sooo help me guys/gals/everything else. Ps. no i cant buy both. EwokPoacher: Why hate Gallente? Man thank god i didnt take logic at your uni/school/mental institution I have a 360 and its ok...Gears is awesome. But i rarely play consoles. I think its fair to say wait till the PS3 is released for a while and see what everyone says before comitting

Also have you seen the size of the damn thing??!?!?! i have a 360, im happy with it the online function is great, the games are fantastic for the most part and no im not a Microsoft fanboi.. i have wii, 360, xbox, ps1,ps2, gamecube,snes,nes,dreamcast and a Spectrum :)

The PS3 stutters at its native resolution in relatively non-graphics-intensive games. Its expensive, the game selection is limited, Blu-Ray is proving to be the next Betamax, and the Cell processor is as expected a bunch of hype. In fact, the graphics are actually better on the Xbox 360, as proven by a number of sites that have compared equivalent screenshots between games that were released by both consoles. The only reason I can see to get a PS3 is if you want a really fast Linux box for specialized supercomputing applications with hand-tuned software to work with the processing units of the Cell. And even that won't work, last I heard; Sony's software layer apparently locks the OS out of the other processors and a lot of the memory, making it impossible to effectively use them. -[23] Member- EVE-Trance Radio! The Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2005 ... Well over a year now. In hardware terms, that is most definately old. But also reinforces the point that its better seeing as hardware that age is currently outperforming the unreleased PS3 hardware.

If you go for a 360 you got gears of war, lost planet (awesome multiplayer if u go online) and ***down coming up which is spiffy cause its co-op that u can play with your roommate. And to go with your metal gear thing, I HEARD (note the heard, its a rumor) that it might come out for the 360 and is no longer a ps3 exclusive. There is some evidence to support that but dont count on it ;p Also rockstar announced that Grand Theft Auto IV is no longer a ps3 excluse so how could you say no to that? And to go ontop of that guitar hero is being released on the 360 in march! and you'll be having bioschock for it too (though personally i'd prefer it on pc). Coupling with the 360s online awesomeness it's great. BTW madden 08 comes out in august ;p The ps3 doesn't have graphics that are THAT much better and tbh the real good games coming out seem to be on ps2 :\| Rogue galaxy, God of War II, and Burnout: Dominator. So if you have one of those and the 360 your great specially cause you alrady have the uberness of Wii! The only two games that I think could weight in favor of the ps3 would be motorstorm, which I admit is fun, and Resistance (not to my liking but meh, i'm for keeping fps on pcs ;p) To the guy up there with that "omg look at me im smart come with evidence, hurr hurr newer always means better and its black!" - Wow please retake school all over again or go get urself checked out :\| First off WHO THE HELL SAID NEWER IS BETTER!? I find all the OLDER videogames are much better, newer seems to be shorter, easier, and made by greedy sons of *es. Its not sleek, it looks like a ign printer-scranner-all in one. Black is awesome, but it looks retarded on the ps3. While being much more powerful then the 360 graphics can only get so good before you can tell a difference ;p. And blu-ray doesn't seem like it's gonna beat HD in the long run. I take Gears graphics over any ps3 game, it is *** gorgeous! With no great ps3 exclusives to look forward to (except possible metal gear) and Sony's attitude towards gamers and developers you'll be seeing less and less exclusives and more 3rd party support leaving them. Sony really ** up big time, don't get me wrong I loved the ps2, I still do infact. But they've gotten to damn arrogant and greedy. They've become to confident that they'll have a much better game library and treating developers like crap. They would have gone through with the game-imprinting for each console. The controller looks and feels like the same ps2 , the sixaxis is stupid. The next to know motion control (not to mention it was shamelessly copied off the Wii after e3) is next to non-existant in most of the games. Add in the $500-600 price tag and no rumble?! Forget about its a straight up failure and has been ridiculed since way before launch. To all those somy fanboys saying when it comes out it'll come out big time and stop us from laughing. Your right, it did stop me from laughing, now I just hang my head in disgust when I think about sony. Being cheaper, with a better game library, hands-down uber online capabilties, a great multiplayer game library, and a very promising incoming lineup. The ps3 should be the one that takes your money, and not only do you get a better system you save $100-200 dollars off to get more games and stuff to go with it! But, if you have to get one right now, get the XBox360. With the PS3 you'll be waiting a year or more before it's worth having, and by that time they'll have better models of it for a lot less (assuming it survives). Best thing of course it to wait until the PS3 comes into its own; if you have a Wii already you already have the only console currently worth owning. ---------- IBTL \o/ EVE is upside down! PS1 and PS2 both took a short time before they were considered worth it. Generally you have to wait 6 months+ before there is enough of a game selection and the newer games that have used the consoles power to its full potential start to come out. I have a 360 and i have one game, Oblivion and i havn't even got half way through it as i got kinda bored (and i love morrowind). I finished Call of Duty in a day. All the other Asian inspired(made?) button mash kill thousands of enemies over and over for hours and hours bore me to tears. I played Lost Planet or whatever its called and it's a pile of turd. Infact, i dislike most 3rd person games as is. Edit: Oh and the xbox version of Battlefield 2 is ***** awfull. I mean god does that game suck compared to the PC version. Each to their own. Still, if you want to buy a machine right now, go with the 360- its cheaper, works better, less buggy and has a better back catalogue of games. Thats mostly because its long established (over a year old) though. If you can afford to wait, I'd say hang on until later in the year before making a decision. If PS3 really is a dead duck, it'll be amply apparent in the next few months, while if its just new and buggy, then it will improve and get cheaper. So if you're desperate to buy immediately, go Xbox. If you can afford to hang on, ask again in a few months when PS3 stands a fighting chance. -----------------------------------------------

You wouldn't want to get a 360 right now when stuff like GT:HD and MGS4 is coming along... Wait untill then, look at what games you REALLY like, and make your choice. If you need to buy a console now get a Wii as it is mutch better than both the 360 and PS3. If you intend on getting either a PS3 or 360 right now then you should think about what you want from it. If you just want a console then 360 is better as it has had most of the bugs worked out, is cheaper and, most importantly, has the better games. If you want a "home entertainment system", then go with the PS3. It is cheaper than getting the 360 with required extras and has Blue-Ray. Blue-ray is now almost certain to win the next gen DVD war. It is outselling HD by 3 to 1 at the mo, is the superior product and has the backing of the major film studios (the majority of the top 100 DVDS in the US last year would have been Blue-ray exclusive). Not only that but Toshiba have just anounced that their new 50GB HDDVD will not be compatable with current HD-DVD players. Also the rumours of Sony saying there would be no ** on BLue-RAy are not true. (no I am not a perv , for those of you who don't know one of the reasons that betamac failed despite being superior was because they wouldn't allow , which accounted for a large portion of sales at the time) Should have said adult content instead of **
