Ive been thinking of training towards a thanatos (still 130 days away :\) However before I do im trying to think of decent setups for it. Things i know ill need/want to have: 5 cap recharger IIs 2 capital reppers 3 Triarmor pump II rigs (Ive always been a defensive player)
However when i put that setup in, seems to me that its not sustainable at all, and even worse if they have nos. Would 1 or maybe 2 800 cap boosters help? With armor of 225000 it would take awhile for people to shoot my armor down, but whats the point of all the armor if you have no way to repair it? :\
Can carrier get capacitor recharge rate equal to their needs? or is it a holy grail not worth striving for?
PS: Im sooo far from getting a carrier that i thought it would be smart to ask before going and training it and buying it, then comming to the forums with "HALP WHAT SHOULD I FIT?!?", so i think im better then others :P

pretty sure you need faction/officer cap chargers, and are those the rigs that increase cap size?

No they are not those rigs, they are armor rigs taking the thanatos from 125000 armor to 220000 armor.

You can quite easily attain a recharge rate that will run 2x Capital reps permanantly, but you really need to use Capacitor Control Circuit Rigs to do so.
With max cap skills, 4 Capacitor recharger IIs and 3x Cap Control Circuit Is you should be able to get a higher rechare gate than your consumption rate, allowing you to sustain a handful of nos permamantly too. Even with a reasonable amount of NOS draining you, you should still be able to maintain your full tank for quite a while. Depending on how common/pricey T2 rigs become in future you could add in T2 CCCs to gain even more recharge and thus sustain more NOS. -----

Try in quickfit (using Capital Rep systems 4, Energy managment 4, Energy Systems Operation 5):
4x Cap Recharger II (At the very least 1 sensor booster is an neccesity on any carrier)
2x Capital Reps
3x Capacitor Control Circuit I
This gives a consumption rate of 200 cap/s and a Recharge rate of 224 cap/s
If you do not with to use the CCC rigs, then i'm afraid your probably going to have to invest in Officer cap rechargers to sustain a healthy tank permanantly.
That is actually lot of help thanks Also I was already thinking id need officer rechargers, but even if they put me back a pretty penny, i think having the extra 100000 armor will be an awsome asset to a carrier. As long as i can get a sustainable tank id buy em

Looked at investing in a slave implant set set?
The high grade will add 53.63% to your armor HP while the Low-grade will add 33.83%, down side would be you'd have to train Cybernetics 5 to get the full benefit. Good thing about that is it'd affect all the ships you fly, and that can't be bad. -----

Wow, no ive never really considered them, mainly because of their price. But wow 53% i can see the cybernetics 5 might be worth it. With those the triarmor would give an effective tank of 330000. Thats a TON of armour...... btw do you have any idea how much those officer rechargers are going for? i cant seem to find any anywhere :\

I've not been paying much attention to the Faction loot market for a few months tbh, but a quick eve-search suggests that the low-end ones (24%, Brokara's + Tairei's) go for 350-400mil and upwards. That could lead to one pretty pricey carrier. -----

I was toying with a explosive rig, would the cap charger be better than the 10% extra explosive damage?

Well after some fiddling with quickfit ive found a pretty good way of going about it 4 cap recharger IIs 1 cap recharger rig II 2 triarmor pump rig II
That will get me a recharge rate of 173 (with recharge skills maxed) with an armor of 230000

I currently use:
H: Whatever. M: 4 x TS Cap Rechargers , SB II. L: 2 x Cap Rep, 2 x Corpum EANs. 2 x TS Cap Relays.
That setup runs 24/7. When I am back in the ship and stick the cap rigs in it, I'll probably raise the resistances some more and drop relays.

for real? 5 cap recharger 2's can run 2 x cap reps
my setup 4x drone links ,1x smart bomb shadow serp sensor booster , 4x cap recharger 2's 2x cap reps , 3 x hardners 1x dmg control
3x cap recharge rigs.
armor hardner rigs are a waste for what they add

Edited by: Deathbarrage on 08/02/2007 12:44:04 tbh I'd use
drone controls/cloak/smartbomb
4x cap recharger II, SB II
2x capital repper, 3x 64% hardener, DCU II
2x cap size, 1x cap recharge rigs
